| Think people are been harsh on Briscoe tbh. The first one he had to come in and the 2nd was just well worked by Salford. Didn't like the way Radford went at Briscoe for the 1st try, if he needed to tell him something that was way OTT and Briscoe didn't look to impressed.
Also the " not bothered " comment is stupid.

I think your probably right, try/game saving tackles like the one he did on Fox tend to stick in fans minds more than his more regular defensive errors. I actually think he would develop even further though with a who served him more because he certainly has strength and speed to find the line more than he does.

| Briscoe has been outplayed by Sharp all season, he needs to buck his ideas up, maybe he is believing they hype too much? That said they first try wasn't his fault but he shouldn't have got involved in the 2nd.

| The undertone of this thread seems to stem from people putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with 5 regarding him potentially leaving due to the Luke Briscoe fiasco and looking for faults with his game so they can claim he has major flaws in his game should he leave.
Lets ignore the finish for his try which very few other players in the league would have been able to finish, simply because its something we expect him to do.

Not doing any of that and I hope he stays for life but right now he is around 60% of his normal standard from what I have seen. He is still making the same mistakes, like for their second try. He is blessed with natural talent but has very little game sense.

| I've said in the past that Briscoe is niave in his positioning, he's obviously still getting caught out quite often. Clearly didn't take anything from Calderwood when he was at FC who was shouting at him in one game I seem to remember.
I hope PG is showing him vids of his performances and telling him where he is going wrong

With all due respect - nonsense. Feel free to check my posting history on Briscoe if you like. I think he's a special player with a great future ahead of him wherever he plays, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have areas of his game that could use some work. Defensive positioning is one of them.

| I guess the good thing is that if he carries on playing like he is then he won't be going anywhere. Personally I haven't seen the vacancies for english wingers in the NRL. If there are any at the moment then I guess Briscoe would be behind Hall , Charnley , McGilvery , and one or two others. I bet you could find at least half a dozen young Aussie wingers with all of the attributes needed for ESL in the Toyota Cup who probably can't get a game with an NRL first team squad. He needs to improve his all round game and his concentration before he has any chance of becoming the superstar some think he already is.

| Briscoe is quality, but he's only 21 and still learning. He is by far from the finished article, which is why I think he such an exciting player. I said myself he was at fault at times on Friday, he often had been caught out of position, but let's hope an actual coach can see to this as the season goes on.

This.
Yeamo is a centre in the Senior mold, often preferring to back himself through strength, as opposed to sending his winger away

As we saw on Friday. It wasn't completely clear how open the support players were from my view behind the sticks but Yeamo did have support on a break yet kept the ball and ran into the tackler.

| bit of a silly conversation this! for large parts of last season tom was best winger in the league! hes having a slow start and may well have been a bit at fault for couple of tries. But nearly all wingers have errors and defensive lapses in them, even the best of em. If like some suggest he's not interested cos he's gonna bugger off wouldnt he want to play well to up his value and put himself in demand! No player plays well 100% of the time! Hopefully find his best this weekend!

The mind boggles it really does, new owner, new coaching and backroom staff and alot of new players, some peoples expectations are crazy it's going to take time, maybe even a season to get to the levels we want to be at. Friday was disappointing but I'm still confident we will come good.

the thing I find most disappointing is it's some of the same people that were still "giving Agar a chance" when all the world could see he was out of his depth, hypocrisy on the part of some.

It's the fact that most people said it would take time anyway and now after 1 loss, they are kicking off saying we will be scrapping for 8th etc, the term has been used alot but "Rome wasn't built in a day"
I'm still confident we will come good, most teams have an off day hopefully that was just a blip.

| Wingers and centres do get the bumsrush in defence, its the hardest place to defend om the pitch and more often than not your wingers are the worst tacklers on the pitch but are usually exposed due to were the other players are. Same for defending against kicks

| After watching the trys, can't see how you can blame Tom for the first try as they took a risk kicked early and it paid off, all wingers defend in field early in the sets, then go out wide on the last tackle, if he had gone back early it would have left a huge gap.
The 2nd try he should have stuck with his man and trusted Yeaman to make the tackle.
If Tom does leave at the end of the season, it won't be the end of the world as it's not a massive pivotal position.
Hopefully we will have our eye on Broughton who we should have signed when he was on loan instead of keeping Todd Byrne.

In the nicest way possible you can fook right off! Jodie & Danny Williams is the best wing combo I can remember in the 22 years I've been watching Salford. Pace to burn & Williams puts in some massive defensive hits. Besides, why would he leave a club on the up for one in terminal decline?!

Yeah, definitely! McAvoy, IMO, should've done far more in his career than he actually did for someone with his size & pace. We've had a few decent wingers down the years (& more than our share of shockers ) but I reckon JB & DW (unless poached) will prove to be the best partnership for many a year.Nit always helps having a couple of half decent centres & if Moon & Gleeson can stay fit the wingers should score tries for fun. From what I've seen of us this season I genuinely believe, as an attacking force, our backline is top 6 material, we're just way too light in the forwards.

'"
Come on Baldy, lighten up a little fella! I thought the 'whistle' would be a little more subtle than the 'wink'. FWIW, you've got a fair few correct points there (maybe put with a little too much hostility tho ). Generally speaking our club has been a laughing stock for as long as I can remember. Our crowds are poor as we're not a rugby league hotbed like Wigan, Hull etc and we've done well to stay at the top table of RL for so long with all the obstacles we've faced as a club. If we're going to mock Salford for their perceived underachievement surely FC should be ridiculed for their lack of success over the past 30 years (a couple of CC's apart)? Oh & on the Simms issue, again you're probably correct, however, there's also a portly moustachioed fella currently on your payroll who almost destroyed our club over his 4 years in charge. One final point I'd like to make is that, from reading your forum the last few days, it seems like a large portion of your fanbase have massive delusions of grandeur! For all your strengths as a club (attendances, stadium etc) you're way below bracketing yourselves with the likes of Wigan, Saints & Leeds. Top 6 aspirations yes but don't get ahead of yourselves & give it the big 'i am'. BTW, I've nothing against Hull FC but think there's some unjustified arrogance being shown by some of your fans. Anyways, good luck for the season & hopefully we'll prove Friday wasn't a fluke & run you close up at the KC.
