O'meleys a few years younger though.
He is a good player but like the other SL signings, Hohaia and Laffranchi, their getting longer deals.
Part of me is wondering isf it's a way to get around the cap tbh.

Well McKinnon is not confirmed yet so we'll haver to wait and see. When he was OOC a few clubs in the NRL were interested in him but none of them were interested in Phelps.
He isn't the player he used to be but is still a very classy fullback. |

You give them a three year deal at 100k a year, they play two years the in November you pay them off a 100k.
They haven't played that season so it doesn't count on the cap.

Anyway Jamie Ellis, really pleased we have done this deal. It probably means Long, Obst and Horne are the halves for next season but we will have Ellis, Williams and Nicklas all coming through, about time we had some young talent in the halves.

Phelps is an Ok utility back who has come in and done a good job for us at FB.
Phelps didn't even play FB until he signed for Wigan and even theen it wasn't all the time.
Mckinnon is a class above him, look at his stats for this season when he plays he makes well over 100 metres a game.
A 3 year deal isn't ideal but this is what clubs are going to have to do now to entice over good NRL players due to the massive increase in Salary cap.
Phelps is just as injury prone Mckinnon

Sorry but signing a 31 year old fullback on a 3 year deal, after a knee reconstruction, is quite frankly ludicrous. It is a mistake we have made over and over again, with usually terrible consequences. Very pleased about signing a young halfback with potential though.
