You asked me for reasons out of interest, I gave my opinion, and if in the future wether they give a to55 about us or not, if we reap rewards their decisions will have been fruitful. The figures are spot on and the reasons are given: the ongoing cost of Knowsley Road (something like £150,000 [ia month[/i just to keep it safe for fans), reduced prices during the recession which have affected gate receipts, lower merchandice sales due to being in no finals whatsoever, no Challenge Cup money ( which I suppose we were getting a bit too used to!!) and all the oncosts of setting up a new stadium, including employing extra staff (hence the increased wage bill - not all Saints' staff are players), marketing, planning costs, etc, etc. We will post another huge loss this time next year. But a season in Widnes, with no Knowsley Road to drain every drop of money from the directors' pockets, will probably provide a far healthier balance sheet and will give the club an idea as to what it can expect when Saints finally move into their own (owned) stadium.

The KR board did a massive dummy spit because, although their books stated they [iwere[/i £3M in the red at the end of the last accounting return (published (very late) just before Christmas), they weren't £3M in the red on Christmas Eve itself. Truly.

As no-one can prove otherwise they apparently refused to talk to the Mail for weeks afterwards and allegedly threatened legal action. This coupled with Mullet $h1ting his pants at the thought of no more cosy business dinners and drinks with Hudge&co. led, in my opinion, to today's retraction.

the most worrying bit of the article reading between the lines is that saints seem to assume they will reach the challenge cup final every year and budget accordingly. where as i seem to remeber Rule saying Hull Budget to go out at the first or second round round so any money above that is a bonus. just seems strange or aragant (SP) to me they would use not getting to a major final as an excuse to be in debt

Bet a fair bit of that is bonuses to shareholders though, with losses preventing them taking dividends.

agree completley with that, a great improvement with the involvement of the fans, everything is in place for us to be a top club, not just a top four club, but we must look at the very best coaches in the world to deliver what we as fans, with the blind support we give to the club, deserve at least to be entertained and a realistic chance of honours.

Now, as everyone knows, I am no fan of Agar, BUT, how can you play attractive rugby without your first choice 6/7 on the field (and in training), when Horne and Long have been able to play together we have looked a lot more potent.

OK, we haven't been pretty this season, but we play next Saturday with a genuine chance of finishing 4th, that 5 drives and a kick got us there is frustrating, but much less frustrating than finishing 11th having thrown the ball around all season
