Can't believe this has even been raised as a potential issue. He's going to be DoR not coach, and he'll be spending plenty of times at games in any case.

See no problem with Bomber doing sky games if they are not the same day as ours. And with us set for Sunday rugby there will be few that will clash. Would not want him on sky when we are playing on sky and I doubt sky would either as it would be seen as a conflict of interests.

Personally i like to see Bomber on there, like someone posted earlier he's one of the few sane ones left at sky! I'm pretty sure

I used to think that Clarkey was a good rugby analyst till stevo brainwashed him into talking twaddle! Don't mind Jon Wells doing it also as he gives an unbiased view from an ex players prospective.

If Sky want to pay for him to attend games which the club would otherwise have to pay for I don't see the problem.

I'd say that it can only do us good for our DOR to be out there in the public eye, making new contacts as he goes.

Agreed, only on here could this be seen as a negative, As Director of Rugby it is going to be important for him to build relationships in Rugby circles and help build our profile.

No problem whatsoever with him being on Sky, In fact I like it as he represents our club really well as he is the only one that talks any sense on there.

It does seem odd. It's almost as if people are looking for problems where there aren't any. McRae won't be doing any coaching whatsoever, so as long as he attends our matches, where's the problem? Presumably the OP wouldn't have expected him to be working for the club at 8pm on a Friday or on a Saturday evening.

Good to know his stress related illness has soon cleared up,maybe he could offer some advice to others with similar problems.?

There is a big difference between stress illness and depression ..the later could take years to get under control and a lot of medication plus a lot of understanding towards the person with depression

Personally , I have no problem with Bomber doing his TV work . I guess he'd have ok'd it with Pearson before he joined .

I've not read the whole thread but surely it's about profile? Under muppet Agar we are a joke side with no respect from anyone ( aside from the rfl iro licences and off the field stuff). It's important for our future recruitment that we're seen as a serious challenger and having Gentle and McCrae gives us some gravitas. Getting McCrae on the box and in the media talking rugby and FC has to be a good thing.

If our biggest concern during the 2012 season is our Director of Rugby (who will have little involvement in the coaching of the side) being an analyst on Sky too regularly, then that will speak volumes about the season we'll be having.
