Great news just a shame its only a 1 year deal but if he goes back to the NRL then who can blame him. At least now with him signing it gives us a year to look for a replacement at least.

It may have been signed a while but nothing released until we'd spoken to Hame, Phelps and Fitz given that our overseas spots are filled for next year I believe.

Its not what I'd do, but if he's staying it needs to be on a 2 year deal IMO, going into a new season with 4 new starting props would be a recipe for disaster!

Me too. Personally I wouldn't give him a new deal even on current form, but if we have no alternatives then we should give him 2 years.

There doesn't seem to be any real talented props available, maybe Adlous, Bowden and Green will step up.

It seems to me there are more high quality back rowers than front rowers, so if possible I'd sign a workhorse to play right second row/loose man (depends where Westy plays) and move Tickle to prop, leaving us with:

Heremina/ Houghton/ Obst/ Newton
Tickle/ Radford/ Bowden
Manu/ Cunningham

Good news. I'm hoping it's a one year deal because he thinks he'll then be in a position to get an increased deal next year, rather than him looking at leaving.

I do share the concerns of all the props being out of contract next year though, think we need to get one or two (be it new or existing) signed up for a couple of years or we'll be leaving ourselves too much work to do for 2013.
