in response to your other quote I think we probably have under valued him and if indeed he is coming to you (I'm still getting texts saying it's not true and he's staying at Rovers, who knows?) then I think you've got yourself a very good full back and if he does as well for you as I think he can then he will be worth whatever you are paying.

A couple of things spring to mind about this.

McDonnell would be a good signing. Can't remember the last time we signed a player directly from them.

If you look at our squad signed for next season we have no back up at full back, centre (barring Crooks) and Half.

He maybe well paid for 'cover' but I could see us doing that.

People need to remember that a large part (25%?) of Horne's wage is wrote off the salary cap due to the length of time he has been here,

So in terms of the cap he will not be that expensive, plus I imagine that his last contract was on reduced terms due to his injuries

You can have 50k off players wages who have been at the club for 10 season at a max of 50% per player.

If Yeamans on 100k we wouldn't need Horne for the saving.

True, but I like the theory that we're able to sign both much more.

Mike White has a pretty good track record when it comes to breaking stories. He ran with the Steve Bruce to City story well before anyone else as far as I'm aware and was proved right. I reckon despite some denials at present this deal is gonna happen.

If we've got

McKinnon, Sharp, Martin, Turner, Ellis, O'Meley, Moa, Manu, Aspinwall, Burnett out

and

McDonnell, Crookes, Arundel, Watts, Ellis in I'd guess we've still got a few quid left.

And thats not to mention if we get anymore space on the cap signing a few more England squad players.
