a good solid fullback....tough as teak. won't rip up superleague but won't make many mistakes either. I like this signing a lot.

Phelps is younger than McKinnon but that's it. In every other aspect Wade is the better player.

Phelps is also far cheaper, younger, less 'busted' and therefore nowhere near as big a risk!

How motivated is Phelps going to be for the rest of the season? Could we keep him as well?

In fact, Cameron Phelps was released by the Bulldogs early so they could sign Nick Youngquest he played 4 games for them and has since played for Gateshead, Crusaders and Castleford.

Things need putting into perspective Phelps is average but playing well.

Think he'll make way, tbh - no point using up a quota and a non-fed spot on a squad player (even with the availability of top antipodeans seemingly set to drop). Should still be motivated though - could get a deal at Widnes, Crusaders etc, so he'll want to impress.

Dykes would have never passed the medical .. If he had , had one .

I still rate Briscoe and hope he stays. If does leave, I suppose Phelps would be a reasonable option for a year, while (hopefully) Sheriff grows into the role. We'd need to clear a quota spot though and only Galea is ooc, and I suspect he's close to having earned another year. One or two others have been rumoured to be looking at a return to the NRL, so I suppose it is possible.



As I say, personally, I hope not. The market is looking very flat. Sheriff, Cox, Taylor, Watts; that's the future and where we have to place our hopes now.

I think this is a good point, but OTOH Phelps has played well this season and IMO was going the right way to earn a new contract. Been improving every week and would be happy enough to keep him for another year or two.

However, from what I've seen this season McKinnon looks like he could be a good signing over here. I remember about 18 months back people giving the same complaints about Fitz and Ogre coming over here, that their aging players who have past it, but aging NRL players are still capable of making a good impression over here.

Hope he goes well and look forward to seeing him play in black and white, if indeed it goes through.

Dykes was a bad signing. Without question. Yeah when fit, good player but we need players on quota playing 80% at least of our matches.

Moltzen's been told he can look for another deal.

At least the club learned from that, look at Long ...... Ermmmm oh well at least he's not a quota player.

Leigh seem to be in a bit of financial trouble.

I'd be tempted to try and sign him early and get him FT training at the club and Long.
