Why would we want two washed up NRL coaches? Apart from Barratt they've been the worst coaches.

Hodgson doesn't instill confidence, nor portray leadership . IMO.

Because they were successful here, both transformed Wigan & Saints
and both have won a GF in Australia & UK..
Now Maguire has gone, I wonder if Wests will try to lure Hodgson, somehow I doubt it..

Another game I couldn’t travel to, but watched it on the old sky, I have absolutely no doubt our present halves are not the future, but yesterdays game Sterling and Kenny wouldn’t have been able to influence that result, we were totally beaten up front, constantly on the back foot, we provided no platform for any of our backs to produce. In searing heat we were totally dominated in the engine room.

For me regardless of present playing personnel, our coach is under tremendous pressure now, losing Carlos and Jake will add to this. Fantastic support from our supporters yesterday, we may have a pretty average team, just a shame for those who traveled to witness such an underwhelming display.

We've still got tonnes of deadwood at the club. We could have Bellamy in charge and still get similar results. I'm confident BH can get rid of most of them this off season.

I'd say we currently have 4 players who are deadwood, unfortunately they all play in key positions.

Reading Brett's comments in the halfbacks it doesn't sound like he will drop them, ok yesterday we had more problems than these two, however these two have been awful all season.

If they play in the next game then he isn't the coach to take us forward IMO.

He usually keeps his cards close, so I wouldn't expect him to bag anyone in public. I take your point on the halves, I wouldn't play Reynolds again. McNamara injuring his back has probably bought Gale more time than he deserves.

4 main issues,

Happy with centres and wingers and Connor.

Pack is decent enough and we have to potentially two good hookers.

If we signed French, Trueman and a decent 7 I think we would challenge the top 4.

Unfortunately don't think this will happen.

Plus still not convinced by the coach.

He gets one last recruitment cycle for me. I'm in the French is happening camp, I've been told by the same people who mentioned the Trueman thing.

The 7 would cap it off. I've been told that Gale won't be staying either, but not sure how a reserve grade 7 could come across without international appearances

I really hope French is true, but just don't see it particularly with Shaws and Peets comments.

On another note, just seen Touloses team, IMO they currently have a better 1, 6, 7 and 9 than we had yesterday.

100% take Connor out for Shaul and we've got the weakest spine in the league

Currently there isn't a first choice halfback worst than our 6 and 7, both have been diasters and two of our highest paid players too.

if Hodgson doesn't fancy Hookem, I'd be tempted to try and sign Riley Dean until the end of the season.

French would be an incredible signing, his pace is exactly what we need and it'd be a big sign that finances arent as bad as has been claimed

With the amount of players we are losing, I don't think money is an issue, I'd expect we have offered more than Wigan, but he may be better staying there on less money or get a move to the NRL.

I'm amazed he hasn't got a deal there with the way he has been playing.

Depends if we are planning to spend full cap or not though. Even signing an average player on say £100k could mean the difference between a profit or a loss, and even if we slipped down the league a few places I don't think it'd impact pass sales and merchandise sales that much, we are pretty much down to the hardcore support now.

Of course id want the club to spend full cap and aim to get in the top4, but from a business point of view making cuts might be better for the club for now.

Hookem player at hooker again this afternoon for Whitehaven so I don't expect to see him feature in the halves this season. Judging BH comments from last night think it's Reynolds and gale for the foreseeable future

I think that's more to do with Whitehaven having decent halfbavks and no hookers (they also have Robb from Cas on loan), but I agree, don't see Hookem getting a chance.

I think we'll spend the full cap next season, we just need to use it better

Seriously? why would a player like French want to come to Hull when he is a current star at a bigger and more successful club like Wigan?
Also he could make a lot more money moving back to the NRL which is where he will go.
We do need a fast elusive French type full back but it wont be him.

Shaul is hardly the main problem we have and in all fairness even if Connor had played we would have still been well beaten.
Until this coach does something about the indiscipline this type of defeat will be regular.
When asked about the teams indiscipline all Hodgson says is its something we talk about.Dumb or what?

I doubt that he'll sign for us. It's an exciting prospect but I think this is one of those occasional rumours that seems to have legs but goes nowhere.

He's stated his desire to return to the NRL and he's 27 in January so I can't see him wanting to stay in Super League for another couple of years. More likely he'll return to the NRL at the end of the season or play one more year at Wigan with an NRL deal already sorted for 2024.

Hope I'm wrong because he'd be a fantastic signing for us.
