Suppose it's an easy mistake to make if he's new to the area.
He must have got his Swanlands and South Caves all mixed up.

This is how I see it at the moment:

Full Back: McDonnell sorted there and hopefully we can get Shaul tied up to a new contract. I know he's only played one game but I think if we handle him right then the worst case scenario is that we get a good cover player. Best case scenario is that we get a player that pushes McDonnell for the number one shirt. Add Horne into the mix as cover along with Whiting and we're looking good there.

Wingers: I suspect Briscoe will leave but think that Lineham and Crookes will do well for us there. Could do with some cover there. Have we got any other young wingers coming through the ranks?

Centres: Yeamo's not been at his best so far this season IMO but if he can regain some form then I'd rather have him in the team then not have him in the team. Out of Crooks and Arundel I'd say Crooks is the better prospect but Arundel looks to be improving. If we were going to make changes here I'd like to see us go for someone with experience.

Halves: A new 7 (duh!) needed to partner Holdsworth with Horne providing cover. Gut feeling says Seymour won't be with us and I don't think Nicklas will be either.

Hooker: Another position we're sorted in with Houghton, Heremeia and young Cunningham.

Prop: Lots of options here but we're losing a big player in O'Meley. Could really do with a Sam Moa style player in the squad again.

Back Row: Think Tickle will be off and Galea will retire which means that we need someone (maybe more than one) to come in here or need to test out some more youngsters like Hadley. Will Westerman be moving into second row?

Think we'll need two props, a second rower, winger & obviously a Scrum Half. Those are necessities for me, with any other recruitment being upgrades and cap dependant.

If we got 2 props I don't think we'd need a 2nd rower.

As I'd completely forgot about Liam Kent, you're right, we don't need to recruit a second rower.

Alex Starling was very impressive for the u19's at weekend in the 2nd row. Looked the most likely on show to make the step up.

Yeah, in a way it kind of doesn't matter which way around you do it for loose man I suppose, but basically it's 5 props in the first 17 and 3 2nd rowers. Would personally prefer Johnson and Pitts to be the ones rotating 13 though, as with them being smaller than the props we have and hopefully any props we get, I wouldn't want them on the pitch at the same time if we can help it. Especially as if Galea and Tickle do go it trims the 2nd row down a bit too.

Played centre most of last year.

Well he's moved on then, because he didn't look out of place in the pack. Ran hard and straight all game, scored an outstanding try also.

I'd have watts at prop, still think we need a line breaking backrow forward as all our backrow forwards are grafters, I wouldnt keep Heremia, promote cunningham, and move Parker into the first team as our 3rd hooker. I still think we need a good centre, but that is being a bit greedy.

I don't believe we could find the required quality to replace them and would rather give the youngsters a years experience.

Then we will continue to be an average team battling for 6th-8th position.

I understand what you are saying in your last post about the lack of quality and its a tough job for Pearson and PG to find the right quality of players, but unless we do are going to struggle again, their are players out there it's just trying to find them.

When players like Corey Norman can get offered $500k a year I don't fancy our chances of finding the right quality of players.

I'd concentrate on getting the spine right and we all know which part were missing.

We're missing props and losing o'meley will make it worse

We have good up and coming props who i'd rather give game time than a Justin Poore like signing.

Fine if you're happy with 7th to 10th place. We can't expect to have a great team sourced from our academy

Not sourced but backed up from the academy.

That would leave us with lynch, watts, johnson, bowden and green as props.
