he is young, big , british , agressive but you know what i just dont get the hype around him, he is average at bestand a far cry from the BIG season he had at Cas .

I thought it was his best game for us yesterday, as was our best forward. He got through a stack of work, and made a few nice offloads, and it was when he went off that they came back.

Unfortunately Joe seems to struggle with stability. He seems to be at his best when making a "fresh start" but can't maintain his focus for consecutive seasons.
Having said that, I'd take him back at Cas.

What you need is a machine that can work for 80 minutes like we have in Paul Aiton. He takes a lot of the work off forwards giving us a bit more energy at back end of games. Probably best tackling number 9 in superleague.

Aiton is the best signing from the nrl, ever.

Westerman best rugby came in the 2nd half of the season when he played out wide on the right, I think he finished the season with 11 trys and 11 try assists (since the superleague site has changed I can't find the exact details).

I think he is suffering from his injuries he has had this year and has got going, I am still confident that he will get his form back and be a big asset to the team.

At Cas his best displays always came when playing predominantly down the right hand side as a back rower even though he was named as a 13.

Yes but number 9's don't just tackle Aiton is second to him and he also has better stats as well. Houghton is a good player but not at the same level as Aiton. He hits like a prop would hit and there aren't many hookers like that these days. A lot of NRL players were shocked when he left as he was highly regarded plus he's the captain of his country.

Where on earth are you getting these stats from ? Houghton makes more meters, misses less tackles, has scored more tries and has more try assists.

As Bet Lynch says, really don't see stats that are better than Houghton's. You should also let Phil Clarke know, as when he keeps doing his OPTA stats team of the week and team of the season so far on Boots N All, he keeps putting Danny Houghton in instead of Paul Aiton. Must be an oversight.

As for being captain of his country, so is Jack Howieson. It means naff all about how good a player he is.
