I agree, I don't believe, if you're recruitment is organised, transfer fees are needed.

What annoys me is we have paid money for a waste of space, money for a player (too much money) and then play him out of position and then paid money for a player and kept him on the bench.
so, in all, we've wasted about 200K, all because our coach is better at sharpening shears and selling heather than he is coaching.

It both annoys me and pleases me tbh.
I'm pleased the board is backing the coach, I just think their backing the wrong one.

| So what you're saying is that we should shell out more money as fans, lining the pockets of the shareholders so that we can one day use that money to invest in a decent coach? Not sure the Board will see an increase in revenue as a driver to sack Agar and spend more on a new coach.

"lining the pockets"?
I doubt they've made much profit from their shares over the years, whilst I don't like the board I don't think they are fleecing us.

I think some people go to RL games for different reason.
If the board want us to challenge for trophies every season they'll see it weather the stadiums full or not.

Nail on head, lets hope someone has the guts to stand up and admit what a mistake it was promoting Agar and make the decision to change.

Promoting him was not necessarily a mistake at the time.
Not getting rid of him now would be.

I don't see the obsession with a big name coach, we just need someone who will introduce more attacking structure to the side, get more out of the forwards and just get more generally out of the squad, after three seasons it's obvious Agar can't do this, I'm sure there are these coaches about who are not "big name."

Promoting him to coach was not a problem, extending his contract was, and continuing to support him is.
I suspect the board's patience is running thin though, with money paid out for players and nothing improving.

It was.
They could have given him until the end of the season to prove himself and seen that 4 wins out of 13 meant that he wasn't up to the job, instead they made the mistake of appointing him straight away. He proved he was a mistake again the following season when he 'guided' us to a 12th placed finish, which of course they made the mistake of rewarding with a lengthy new contract.

| We do not know how many season pass holders we have, its a guarded secret this year for some strange reason. It has dropped from last years high water mark, by how much is anyones guess. The effect of on field perfromance and season pass sales has to be a factor, the worry for the board is if that trend continues for 2012. No doubt they have will have done there budgeting for this season already and I am fairly sure they have cut "there cloth accordingly" with a reduction is gate takings down expected.
The fall in gates to FC is not as great as people are thinking as all the gate over 8,500ish is split with SMC and clearly we have been prudent with the cap spending which will have had an impact. I would be interested in shop sales to as if they have held up well the club will not be in a bad position to maintain its hard line stand behind Agar. They appointed him and it will become a test of wills between the fans and the board, they will tough it out.
Basically whatever the fans do will have little effect until the board starts projecting forward to 2012, that is when the "poop hits the rotating round thing "

| Quote ="FC DAZE"Regarding the Boycott,Personally think it will only affect the Walk Up crowd, and yes our crowd against Leeds was clearly down on the corresponding fixtures from previous years,However we have 9000 pass holders who I think will still attend,I certainly will, unless other arrangements take precedent, the only boycott I am subscribing to is not to waste my money attending Away fixtures.
End of the year I would still expect us to pass 10000 avarage, that to me would not constitute a boycott,Think the penny would drop a lot quicker if we boycotted Passes, because if they didn't have the fallback position of 9000 passholders and relied more on attracting walk up supporters, does anyone honestly think we would have had to endure the DROSS we have in recent times.'"
"end of the year you would expect to pass the 10K average? No poop Sherlock.
Lol i would expect fc to pass 12k average even with Agar !
penny drop quicker if fc fans boycott pass next year, wow if this carries on past a month its gunna be very very interesting but in all honesty it wont get anywhere near the season end before action is taken, just my opinion of course.

The club announced 8000 shirt sales on twitter earlier today.
I sincerely hope it doesn't all come down to finances though and still want to believe that the board want success but have simply made (and continue to make) a massive mistake by believing Agar is the man to get them it. Besides, Agar has had 4 transfer fees to spend now and if he's not able to show any kind of improvement for them then that doesn't look good from the financial point of view either.

Not really seb, if people don't go or spend money in the club shop it will effect how much money we've got to spend.

We, thankfully, spend to our means.

| I had this debate with people a while ago over season ticket sales. One point of view says the fans are responsible for withdrawing their financial support and the other says the board are responsible for creating a situation where the fans want to do that. It's a bit of a chicken and egg situation, I don't think either view is really wrong.

Yes we do spend to our means but there are different ways of spending that budget.
For a simplistic example, how many fans would have rather seen us keep Washy as the backup 13 to Fitz and spend the 100 grand + wages that we saved on Westerman on bringing Noble in to replace Agar?
Quite a few I'm sure.

Neither do I, but in our case the board came first.
As they paid off the debts and gave us a future.

Personally I'd rather see Washbrook off the wage bill altogether.
Westerman can replace Fitz when he calls it a day; Washbrook never could.

imho, A board with any good business sense would.
It is not just about the short term success a top coach would bring, but also the medium and long term gains. I am not just talking about gate receipts, but player and youth development.
Just by not having to pay transfer fees, would be a huge saving.
Getting a coach like Agar on the cheap is a false economy, as he will prove to be very expensive in the longer term.

Areed again, not to mention wedhave Westermans wage to get another player.
Btw I'm not slagging Westerman off and I'm sure he'll be a great signing for us.
