Didn't see the full games, but from the highlights Briers looked more influential with the more important input in their tries, even though it's Myler who tends to be involved near the end. Myler catches the eye at times because he's involved at the glory stage, the actual hard work (in a creativity/halfback sense) is usually done by Briers/Monaghan/Hodgson, and even Ratchford now.
He's very good at what he does, but that's a very limited range and not what we really need at this moment in time.

| Makes me laugh, us hull fans would't want a half back that as a realistic chance of doing the double with his current team!! I think every single hull fan would have had myler before Pearson took the reins, the expectation levels of hull fans has just been notched up to the ridiculous, BUT saying that chase, holdsworth pairing would be my choice, and so so exciting for next season, come on you huuuuuuuuuuullllllllllaaaaaaaaaaa

Quick question, how many cup or grand final-winning teams has Myler played in?

I agree. As a creative half he isn't as good as Richard Horne. He's playing in one of [ithe[/i most fluent teams in the league, and yet he still fails to impress as a play-maker.

Is that some sort of code I'm not getting?
Unless you're just pointing out other halves who haven't played in final-winning teams. If so, I was responding to a post hailing Myler as a potential double-winning halfback, and pointing out that history shows he isn't deemed good enough to play in those games and there's a good chance he won't again.

No one has said that Horne is an overall better player than Myler, so you're making things up now.

People on here have in the last 3 years proclaimed those as our HB saviours
They could get to the KC to sign deals due to being weighed down with winners medals
As for Myler, yes please, with a player who will put him away, (Westy and the other offloaders in the squad)
Sod it, i'd go for Eastmond too

To be fair to Horne, he'd played in and won one barely a month after his 23rd birthday. And he still has 2 Cup Final appearances to Myler's 0.

This is my point about Myler, IMO we are in far more need of a halfback who can put players through gaps than one who can follow them through and not much else.

Gentle has a pack of offloaders, maybe he thinks he wont need that "put away 7"
Just look how Schoey made his name? Sat on the shoulder of Lee Crooks

He might not, I'm just saying that I think we do. As for Schofield, he was a threequarter, different kettle of fish. The team still had to have others to pull the strings.

I gather by your tone you like Myler. I don't. As I said, Myler has no quality kicking/passing game whatsoever. He's a support player, nothing more. Play him at hooker and he supports, play him at halfback and guess what? He supports.
You only have to look at last nights game to see that he is nothing special. Tony Smith moved him from 1st receiver as he couldn't cope with the Bronco's defence strolling up at him. He's elusive given space but he doesn't even shine in a quality Warrington team, he's almost on par with Ellis.

You can't rely on 'offloaders' to dictate play. We need a quality creative halfback, we have done for years and now there's talk of getting one, Myler's name crops up time and again. I'll have a bet with anyone on here that 'if' Myler comes to HFC, he will be slagged off Thorman-esque for his creative abilities.
Schofield also played off half to a decent standard.

16 try assist suggest to me he is more than a support player, Brier has 2 more at 18.

Those kits are all different too, apart from being hooped, chevrons or camouflage. They aren't the same template like you said we had.
You want a Nike kit? They use templates for Premier League sides, and you think they'll make us a new one? We'll get a rehash of the old England Union shirt, nothing more.
__________________________
Myler would be a decent signing if we completely built the team around him, offloading all the time, playing with a half back who is comfortable running things on his own, and protecting him in defence. I'm not sure he's a good enough player for us to do that.
Another thing, can anyone remember Obst or Webster been our halfback saviours on here, because I can't.

You know this already BL. Stats are not everything. How many times have those 'assists' been to another support player along side of him? Warrington push players through in numbers and when on song there's usually 3 or 4 of them following the break. Myler does not make the space, he has it made for him by the likes of Briers, Hodgson, Monaghan etc.
My main gripe with Myler is that he cannot dictate a game. The likes of Briers, Dobson et al can.
