age has nothing to do with it....i feel like many others that hull born players seem to have 9 lives when it comes to playing at fc....many of them are clearly not good enough but because there home grown we give them many a chance, in my opinion there is and has been afew from hull who aint good enough but seem to be in or around the squad for ages...do you not agree??

Lee has shown over previous years that he cant play 7 and he has admitted he doesnt like the responsibility of playing 7 and leading the team around. He has always tackled well above his weight.

This season we have had the common sense to play him 9 or 13 and he has been outstanding. Putting his previous seasons performances to one side at half back im not sure how you cant have noticed how good he has been this season at 9 and 13.

A players place of birth has got nack all to do with my opinion on their ability. For instance G.Horne, Radford, King should all be shown the door IMO. Lee on the other has been getting slated for 2 seasons now even when he has a good game. Its usually by the clueless numpties who sit near me in the East stand who have zero knowledge of the game and just shout the same old cliches regardless of what is going on at that moment in time. People have made their mind up about him based on some poor performance when trying to lead the team through a poor spell and us usually happens refuse to change their mind despite evidence to the contrary.

Try watching Houghton through the whole game rather than just when when he skoots from the PTB.

we'll agree to disagree, but are you and lee mates? you wont hear a bad word said, in my opinion, houghton is a better back-up number 2 hooker than lee...and if thats the case, where would you see him playing next season?

I wouldnt say i do at all however i really think his defence gets bigged up way too much on here as if he gets caught in a 1 on 1 situation he is really poor, the fact he is playing in the middle hides this alot of the time but any late footwork from forwards leaves him grabbing at thin air.

Also if you was a coach preparing to play us when Lee is at hooker you would pretty much tell your square markers to shoot off as Lee offers no running threat whatsoever as he just distributes off the ground he doesnt even jump out slightly to try and engage the square makers.

As for people saying he has played well at 13 thats just madness.

At 9 he has been better than the other 2 all season.
At 13 none of the 3 you have named have played there this season consistently.

Looking at next season i dont see how anyone could justify getting rid of our best hooker.
At 13 Washy will play there so no arguement.

Nope and I have criticised him in the past. It just grates with me when people refuse to acknowledge that he does actually have a lot to offer, based on playing poorly at a time when the whole team was playing poorly.

What about the ascertion that he must have something on someone at the club, or we'd have moved him on long ago?

dont get me wrong, he has decent games but he's had too many chances to cement a position in my opinion and he hasnt..as ive said before, many players havent had the chances he's had and there currently not with us, but lee and graeme horne seem to be allowed to continue there careers with us in positions that dont suit them...maybe it would be better for all parties if we were to split!!? any thoughts??

His defence is more than adequate IMO which is not something I would say of Houghton. Houghton is quite literally always dominated either with or without the ball.

I totally agree with your comments regarding the square markers but that is the only area in which Houghton is superior IMO. Hardly conclusive evidence that Houghton is far better than Lee as many are claiming.

FWIW I think Houghton will improve the other areas of his game and go on to be a far better Hooker than Lee. I just dont think he is at this moment in time.

Perhaps you might see my point that some on here are quick not only to judge a person but to completely write them off. It doesn't mean you're their mate, lover or relative it just means you like to build your arguments on slightly more than being able to point a finger.

Neither Lee or G.Horne should be anywhere near the starting 13 IMO. G.Horne has had far longer than Lee to cement a place and hasn't so yes he should go. Lee will still be relatively cheap and makes a decent squad member so should stay.

Say for instance Berrigan is injured next season or has to play at SH/SO who spells Houghton at Hooker? Houghton is not even close to being able to do 80 mins IMO and he is most effective when coming off the bench. Lee is cheap enough to be kept in the squad.

fair point regards cheapness...as for replacement, tansey can do a job at hooker but would we want to move him from full back..??

Cos obviously if you dont agree with them then that cant be correct so you must have some underlying reason!!
