If tom decides he wants to test himself against the best in the nrl gook luck to him , reckon he will go for next season giving us time to find a replacement and as long as he dosesnt run his contract down then sign for leeds for nothing i would wish the kid well, and hopefully he will reward us by allowing him to leave early and give us 1st option if he comes back to the uk

Fair point - I think that did exist and may still.

I have a feeling/inkling that it does, and the Briscoe scenario is the reason it was brought in, to protect clubs (predominantly from people like Howes!)

I may be wrong but once they get over a certain age (23?) they can go for nothing i,f their ooc of course.

If he gets the chance then good luck to Tom. He's still young so maybe getting coached by Gentle for another season or two would be his best option to succeed as although he has the ability and talent he still needs some fine tuning.

I dont believe Tom is the sort of kid who would shaft FC he has never ever come across as that sort of lad in interviews etc however should he go to the NRL who would blame him AND if he signed for another club in SL at some point are we saying he becomes another Cooke or Schofield .. no not at all he would become a lad who would have given a huge part of his career to FC and just needs a change of scenery or is being offered wages he cannot ignore given the short time he has at the top of RL...
I think a lot would depend on how we fare during the remainder of his contract at FC , if were winning silver and playing in wembley and OT then he would want to stay wouldnt he....
lets face it there are few players go through their whole careers as one club players not knocker, not toppo, not sterling etc etc
how many people in the real world stay in one job all their working lives?? not many
for now its not even a concern though is it , he is our man and will remain so in my opinion

He'll always struggle to get the big offers because of his position but we should be able to match any Nrl bid if we start bringing youth through.

One of the questions I hope that comes up next week is the progress of Tom's contract talks.

I'd be more surprised if he didn't end up in Union. There's more than a few Northern Hemisphere clubs that would offer him more than an NRL club would. Whatever Ashton & Thomkins are on, he's probably worth double to the RFU

Tommy Briscoe on top of the world... at Hull FC

Who could believe it!

Was speaking to Luke yesterday at Leeds Rhinos away shirt launch, he said that Tom wants to go Australia and think that it will happen. Doesn't want to go to a club where the their is English players. Counts out West Tigers, Melbourne Storm, South Sydney Rabbitohs and Canterbury Bulldogs.

Won't want to be going to any of them clubs then if he doesn't want to go to a club with English players.

All the best to him then, will be sad to see him leave Hull. But you can't stop a young English talent going to test himself in the best league in the world!

Why would he specifically want a club without English players? Makes zero sense.

I think Tommy is as good as gone. Only a successful 2012 season for Hull FC might change his mind.

Nothing will change his mind, if anything success will only make him want to go more as he would have achieved something over here.

He's so good, can't wait to see how he'll turn out, Hull FC or no Hull FC.
