Er, I think his inclusion only came about because of injuries.

In the game immediately going into the season he looked as inept in defence as he ever has, our only weakness against Bradford. As Rock God says, he has only since got in due to injuries, so clearly he is currently down Gentle's pecking order.

Players have to play for there place. The fact that he took his chance proves that Gentles system is working. If he keeps playing well it should be Yeaman who has to earn his place back.

I didn't see it. I saw his try on the highlights and he took it exceptionally well. More generally, I'd agree with carl spackler's assessment of him - I don't think he'll be good enough for us to progress into a top 4 side unless he improves this season.

but that is exactly the point i am making ......against saints he had improved to an almost flawless showing that night , SO he has improved and your only as good as your last outing as they say
AND he is still very young remember, tons of time left in him and now as said previously yeaman will have to play his way back in if Turner has another couple of games like that will he not!!!

I'm saying that over the course of his time here he has not been good enough to merit keeping, but should that change this year I wouldn't be averse to him staying. We should therefore be looking for potential replacements already, because if we don't and he gets no better we will possibly find ourselves scrabbling around looking for a centre amongst those other clubs didn't want as the better options have already been picked up.
Seriously, it's not as if we've not seen much of Turner to make an informed opinion, and it's much more sensible to appraise him on the longer term rather than just one outing where he's looked good.

Agreed, and if he keeps Yeaman out by playing well I've no doubt he'll earn another deal. I'm just saying that at this stage he is still yet to earn it, and we should be looking to bring someone in until that changes.

Yes, really. We were completely dominant and conceded just one interception try. Our only defensive weakness that day was when Bradford tore down our right centre channel for 5-10 minutes early in the 2nd half.

or are we STILL basing opinions on the previous clown we had in charge and the inept manner in which he coached, played and subbed our team.
Turner is class have always said that and will stand by it..... lots of years left in him at FC IMO and he will now under a structured coach get better and better and better as we go and hope thats what you all want...
Given now a run against Cas and Widnes whilst yeamo is out it may just be the run he needed coming off the back of a cracking dispaly at Saints to plant his flag !!!
Everyone who travelled with us against Saints all agreed he was outstanding last Friday so long may it continue... we have bigger issues to worry about IMO than Turner

we had ten mins start of 2nd half against Saints when we looked ragged at times, Houghton was a turnstile in two tackles but i wouldnt expect any different would you?? its RL, ebs and flows

Can't solely be down to the centre though, can it?

But your reasoning is incredibly short-sighted. Almost every player has good games, they need to prove it consistently. Hence why 'only as good as your last outing' is usually a favourite claim of dogs who have just had their day. By your logic, Widnes are now better than Wigan.

Not solely, no, but it's an amazing coincidence that it seems to happen more whilst Turner is on the field than it has done with Martin.

If that's how you want to view it, fine, but I really struggle to agree with any of it and think it's just making excuses for him. If we're blaming Agar for all of the problems last year we might as well give all of the players a contract until the end of their careers, but in reality, some of them aren't good enough to be a first choice for us. I believe Turner falls into this category.

In the first 15 minutes of the second half? And in Turner's case, having only come on 5 minutes before half time?
And I don't see why you seem to be saying I'm panning him for 10 minutes, he's been here 2 full years before this season. I know you've just trawled out the Agar excuse, but if we're using that as a reason not to criticise players or hold them at all responsible for their performances we might as well have not made any changes to our squad at all.

Fair point, I'll rephrase; in that game he was the significant weak link defensively.

| What if O’Meley (same pay), Manu (same pay) Whiting (same pay) and Moa (increased pay) all decided to stay?
Personally, If he could be tempted, I would rather us pay a bit more to keep Moa and get a top centre, before us signing Ellis.
If we could shed a few fringe players to fit Ellis in then great, we could then contemplate moving Tickle to 4/5th prop
It’s a bit frustrating with Turner. I honestly believe that he has it in him to be a very good (if not great) centre. If we could somehow get him to realise and bring out that potential in him before then end of the season, then it is problem solved. We would not have to spend big money on a new centre.
We could then potentially have Martin, Aspinwall and Burnett's wage + the £60k available.

| To those saying that Moa could stay, I'm pretty sure that he will be leaving. He's said in previous interviews that it's been tough for him due to his girlfriend/wife going back over to Aus last year. As much as I'd love him to stay with us, I see him going back over to her.
