| I just wonder, as Salford build up for their shot at glory, do clubs like them, us and even the likes of Cas only have one chance every 10, 15 years?? I think back to us a couple of years ago, when in reality we 'blew' any chance with those agonising, narrow defeats to Saints and Hull. Cas were virtually unplayable until the G/F, then gone backwards since, maybe they will come again, not so sure though it will be sooner rather than later. Even Hudds were league leaders only 6 or 7 years ago was it, again couldn't sustain it. It seems even after 20, 25 years it's still Saints, Wigan, Leeds who keep lifting the big prize, so Salford have to try and make history, or else it could be a long time before it comes around again.....

| No. They have a chance every time they are good enough to get there.
Cas were good enough to get there. Not good enough to win.

And what one thing do you think links clubs like Saints, Leeds and Wigan that enables them to constantly get the better players, ensuring they stay top teams? Doesn't take much working out really!
'smaller clubs ' without the level of investment the bigger clubs have, will never constantly be at the top of the pile.

But that's kinda my point! Will it take Cas and the 'others' another 10 years to have their shot at actually winning the title, not just coming close. If Salford don't pull it off, them, Cas , Hull, Hudds etc have had their chance at glory in the last 15 years to break up that monopoly of the 'big 3' winning it all the time. First G/F was '98 I think, am I right in saying only 4 different teams have actually won it?!

Well you can argue they will have only taken their chance if they actually win the thing, but I know what you mean. It's been a remarkable effort from them, and just shows what you can do if everyone is committed and professional week in week out, when you consider Warrington & Hull's resources, they should be embarrassed the way they have performed at times this season, and maybe puts into context how bad we actually were compared to them 2!

Still doesn't stop the 'smaller' teams taking their chance in one off games does it?!

It's not a one off game though, that's the trouble. It's a play off series, for Salford to play at the same level again that they have done in the last 2 weeks would be a huge effort, even then it may not be good enough if Saints 'turn up'.

Yeah that's true, even though they got a (deserved) second bite of the cherry when they lost to Wigan, it would be some feat if they manage to pull it off.

Yep, that's who I came up with! Let's hope Salford can do something remarkable, it would give all the others' some belief and hope that it can be done.
