| Very good interview,
Sad to hear that some players just didn't feel the loss on Sunday, hope they ship out cos we don't need freeloaders in the squad

| I would ask why now, why did he not have the same discussion with the players after the Warrington game or Catalan game. I get the impression that his intervention was more to do with Him being annoyed at the players for putting him into a position where he needed to let the coach go.
I agree the players have some responsibility but so does the coach, he picks the team, tells them his game plan and manages their ego's where necessary.
That's the impression I got from the interview.

| I agree Scarlet. He's just playing to the crowd. Should have said something to the players and resolved it before he felt the need to talk about it in public.

| Reading the various threads it would appear that the interview did what it intended to do and that is to divert the criticism from Webster. You should if you think it necessary have such discussions in private because in the long run it could harm the club more by forcing a wedge between all the players and the club.
I ask the question if you were a player how would you think if you heard the coach saying that he is only interested in the middle eight play offs and it would not be a surprise if Leigh won. They now hear our chairman criticising them in public, we need them because i doubt anyone else would want to join us so what we have will need to be the ones that help us stay in Super League. If any take up his offer which sounds good to the supporters what chance do we have of surviving.

| No that is not how it works, how many players have we gambled on because it was thought no club would touch them. I guess we have given their agents free reign to obtain new clubs knowing all they need to do is go in see Carter say they want out and he will release them.
A good sound bite to appease supporters but could prove problematical in the long run.

He didn't say he would just release them he said he would sort it with them.so try selling them and spend the money on someone who does want to play for wakey.how do people still pick negatives out of that interview.

| Have to say he should have fired into those players a few weeks ago how many of us fans could see that some players were not putting effort in heavens above you see Washbrook and McShane giving it all they have and others not.

| The squads capable of so much more , and should for what ever reason be performing well above the level they have. M C has only repeated what many fans thought anyway and I for one am pleased he did.
Its now over to them lets hope they take on board the comments made.

For god sake grow up man. This club has been shafted more times than your average coal face. I have no idea as to Carters level of honesty but what I do know is every previous Chairman has sounded just as plausible - Glover and Pearman spring to mind.
Question everything and take nothing on face value, we as fans are in the unfortunate position where we have to be super vigilant - cue Bazzo!
Mr Carter is on a steep learning curve but surely now he must realise that this is a business like no other and everything he thought he knew is pretty much useless. He needs to listen more, his choice TBF but I'd suggest the Hetheringtons, John Kear should he come even Ted Richardson or probably more likely Eric Timmins. I'm not suggesting any of them get a seat on the board or their word to be gospel but I know I'd want that level of support if it was available.
I mention the above because they all have Wakefield at heart to a greater or lesser degree.
In ten years should he last I think Mr Carter could be a superb CEO but he arrived knowing nothing and IMO it's a ten year apprenticeship.

Scruton has stepped up a gear and now looks what he was at Bradford. No doubting his commitment, or Andersons!
Would be inclined to give captaincy to one of those two but wouldn't want to affect their game.

| Scruton and Anderson are great leaders by actions, but I don't see them as Captains
McShane would be my choice, though Washbrook shows signs as well.
I'm not against Kirmond being Captain, but I just feel he has too much to do for his game to improve and I do wonder if he is feeling the pressure of the losses more than most.

On watching the game back for the first time, it was clear to see for me that McShane should not be doing the full 80.
Although i cant fault either him or Washbrook over the season as they have given more than most, both did not move 1 inch in the line prior to Brierley chipping over. They gave him a full 20 yards to run at and decide what to do.
Whether that was a fatigue issue i dont know but they both switched off completely, probably expecting a kick down field.
On a plus note, Tim Smith ran the show in the first half, unfortunately we as a side didn't give him chance to repeat that in the second.
With regards the interview, I'm not going to go overboard with it, but MC said all the right things.
I have had dealings with Ted, Glover, Elston and the current board in the past and i assure you from that list, (imo) MC & CB are certainly the most "straight down the line" blokes.
When Glover & Elston left the building (& Ted/Eric before them) everyone was screaming for transparency & honesty. I believe MC is trying to give that. Whether that is what fans actually want to hear or indeed if it is what should be coming out from the club is another matter. Its a fine line.

| The only problem i have with the interview is by the chairman publicly saying that some players don't (or at least didn't) care it has caused the whispers about who they are to start and some innocent parties are going to get tarred with that same brush whether he wants them to or not. It creates suspicion and mistrust both inside and outside the dressing room, if someone now has a stinker on sunday was it them etc? And people handle things in different ways. Whose to say that some of those who appeared ok after the hooter didn't go home and kick the hell out of their house? His honesty is refreshing yes but some things are better left within the confines of the dressing room. Now he seems to have blamed the players but sacked the coach, so will anything actually change? Don't see how that is going to get people flooding back through the gates. We may have all had an idea that one or two were not putting it in but don't confirm it in public, it is unlikely to be helpful.

| Can we stop the negative banter of MC? He is a straight talking chairman and although I don't know him personally, he appears to be very genuine. He has cleared a lot of outstanding debt and cares about the club. He gave the coach the time to try and get a good team out on the pitch, before deciding enough was enough, for all concerned. We lost twelve games on the trot, due to injuries and latterly lack of motivation it seems. At least MC had the courage to say it as it is!! Let's all unite now and get behind our team with positive vibes.
