Not trollng here but there's a thread appeared on the Leeds forum regarding us chasing Ryan Atkins (again!).
Just wondered if there's any sustance to it.

This old chestnut keeps appearing. Its getting a bit boring now.

Unfortunately he will be a definite end of season departure & as he's in contract I think Leeds will be one of the few who can afford to pay a fee to Wakefield.

I can't help but feel that "players leaving" rears its ugly head every time we become a bit of threat to other clubs, I just wonder for once they may want to stay and even other players want to come and play for us instead,
why would ryan want to go to leeds, from what I have heard the grass has turned a bit brown, sinfield and mcguire rumoured to warrington, smith going to union, peacocks not in favour and buderous wages has caused a bit of unrest

Mcguire and sinfield are going nowhere the unrest rumours are the same bollox that appear whenever we have a run of poor form.
As for atkins imo he'd be a great signing for us and i'd welcome him we'll just have to wait and see what happens!

Not in talks with Leeds, they will be after him again though no doubt about that.

Personaly I think a move away from Wakey would be a bad move. We are building a good team and one that looks good for the long term too and he will play a big part in that as will the lights of Pitts, Gleeson, Fergi and hopefuly Broughy. Longer we keep these together and buil on it the better chance we have of moving to the next level.

If you could do a good player exchange deal it might not be such a bad thing. Tony Smith got Mathers essentially thrown in for nowt at Wire because he knew he could get the best out of him. There may be a couple of Leeds players who would get better at another club.

Mind you, I'd hope any player exchange with Wakefield would work out better than the last one (John Lyons and Gary Spencer for Mark Conway, Keith Rayne, Andy Mason and Phil Fox IIRC).



Spencer was OK but injury prone, and I think Lyons played 2 games before disappearing. Whereas I would have thought Conway and Mason were damn good signings for Wakefield.

If he was to go I think he would soon realise exactly how good he isn't and how little he does, because I'm sure he would have to work harder than he does for us, a bit like when a few others have left for "better" clubs lately!!!!

Fox, ellis and probably westwood stand out as achievers and good luck to em, but there in the minority I think.
Atkins desire from his first should have carried him further than it has, I thought be was gonna be sensational, but I think overall he's gone down hill from then, I think hes still a decent player but I don't think he would oust senior, and I think he may struggle to hold down any regular England shirt, shame really!!

That was one of the best deals Wakefield ever made. Was sorry to lose Spencer and Lyons but the service and skills we got out of the others was fantastic.
