If it was left to me I would make the signing of Drew for another season my number one priority.

Then I would get Brough, Ferguson and Atkins to extend their contracts by three to five years.

Next priority would be Snitch, he has been our most consistant forward and I would hate to see us lose him.

Then I would sit down with Murphy and Pitts and make them see the sense, for the sake of their Rugby careers of staying at Trinity, stop listening to their agents and listen to me.

With all the above signed, the rest of the squad and the Rugby world would see that we had the core of a strong team with JD, Peterson, Blaymire, Gleeson, Bibb, Latu, Stosic already on the books for next season.

My next priorty would be the boys from the under 18 team, several of these lads are out of contract at the end of this season, they are good players and they are generating interest from other clubs who are looking to nick them from us, so I would sit down with these boys and sell them the Trinity career path, look at Ellis, Mason, March, March, Pitts, Murphy, Jackson, etc etc, we give young players a chance to play first team rugby. I would look to sign these lads on five year contracts. One of the effects of this is that our reserve grade team would have a core of full time players and that team would then become more competitive.

Then we need to sign the boys who are on scholorship so that next years under 18`s are strong, and put an end to other SL clubs signing our boys when they turn 16. I would also look to sign a couple of our under 21`s Blake and Davey spring to mind.

Now we would have the backbone of a talented first team, a strong reserve grade and under 18`s. Then it would be time to look at the budget, lets say we had £ 500,000 left and need lets say 15 to 20 first team squad players. So now I would sit down with the current players who are on the right side of thirty and always give us 100% and are out of contract this year, Winterstein, Bibey, Henderson, Wikes, George,Moore, Grix , spring to mind. I would make these players take it or leave it offers, sign now or look elsewhere.

Now we know which of these players were staying, to the ones that do not sign you add to Obst, Matin, Rooney who I would let go ( would try to keep Obst if Grix does not sign ). Then its out into the market, there are some very good players who are out of contract, we have to be realistic but it would be nice to get Halley, plus say one of Thacks, Radford or Tickle, would also like to see Evans in the red white and blue again.

Can we do a deal with Hudds where they loan us Korky for a season if we pay 30 - 40% of his wage ? I would like to sign say two young players from NLI / 2 who are project players.

I would sign Sam Scott from the reserve grade who is the next Richard Slater, he has now played 6 games of RL having played all age levels Yorkshire RU and he looks a natural, he is only 19, has a great work rate.

I would look to spend a few quid on a proven prop ( rumours on here that we have signed an aussie are encouraging ), if possible I would like another strong running back rower , now we are not going to be able afford a Gilmore or a top overseas player, but would hope that we may unearth someone somewhere, Mick Robinson step up to the plate.

If Grix, Rooney and Obst do not sign then we will need a quality stand off.

Easy really, do not see what all the fuss is about.

Atkins may well sign a 3 to 5 year contract before the start of next season............but it won't be at Belle Vue. I think we'll be cashing in on his value before his contract expires next year and he gets an offer we can't match from elsewhere in SL.

Yes, but for every rumour which turns out to be correct there are 10 that don't. The usual response is to say 'wait and see', then the odd ones that are correct sing it from the rooftops and the others we never hear of again.

Almost every decent player we have had has been linked with Leeds / Bulls / Saints / Wigan - and more recently, FC and Shudds. They can't all be true and I will treat the rumours as such until I see a press release or hear it from the horses mouth.

One thing I can confirm - we are looking to step up next year, which seems to go against the idea of these 2 leaving - unless we have better players coming in!
