Fed up of hearing some of our fans bleating on about the kid, not done a great deal wrong since his reintroduction from injury.
Sure he's missed a lot of game time through injurys, but that's just bad luck!!
Thought he took his try well today, and contributed well.
Every player makes mistakes he seems to kop it for his more than most and when the team plays poorly he seems to get it for them aswell!!!
Seen a few players over recent weeks up, but not get anywhere near the level of criticism that he gets.
Give the lad a break!!!!

Was you listening to the same commentary as me? Clarke said he'd been a huge disappointment since his switch from the NRL. Thought he went quite well yesterday and if he is to stay for the remainder of his contract hope he gets an injury free run. I've given him some stick on here but credit where credits due he's only had one poor game this season (admittedly hes only played in about 4 or 5). If he was a project player playing for pittancethen he wouldn't get the stick he does, the fact he's on £70k+ then people want more than a dozen games a season out of the lad, and quality games at that.

Prefer straight haired men and handle bar tasches! My criticism is we haven't got our moneys worth out of the guy, now it may not be his fault he's been injured but that doesn't change the hard facts. Petersen was passed fit after missing a week with concussion but told JK he didn't feel right to play in the game. We had a lad in on loan who played 3/4 of a game on one leg at Hull KR. Now who would you say is the most committed player out of the two?

You and I don't know weather he was right to play or not, he may have been passed fit following a medical examination, but he knows his body/condition better than anyone else.

Think its more a mental thing, maybe his confidence was shot I dont know.

Hardly surprising if his confidence was shot, he gets slagged off at every opportunity, and he himself won't be happy with the injury situation, so for me that would be understandable, still doesn't prove wether or not he was "actualy" fit/able to play.
The atkins comment related to the two games he mysteriously pulled out of, plus him not playing last week, JK and possibley the player deemed his commitment to playing in a farce of a game for England was greater than his commitment to play for his team!

You mean the fact JK pulled him out so it did not make the injury any worse, could have kept him out much longer if he had got a knock on it. He wanted to play on during the Celtic game but was brought off by JK.

To be fair he has a chance to cement a regular starting place for his country with Senior retiring and Gleeson on a bit of a downward spiral. Kear is a big fan of the international game so it was no surprise he rested Atkins. Think Atkins has actually upped his game from last season (I wasn't a fan to be honest) goes looking for more work now just a shame we starve him of any quality ball to work with.

If the injury was so bad he shouldn't have been risked playing in a pointless friendly, the next full England squad will bare little resemblance to this "experimentle" one

He wanted to play but you know John Kear, the head coach the one that makes the decisions on who to play etc he chose not to play him.

He is only the 2nd player I believe to get a full international cap the 1st been Ellis. So it's a big thing for the club and player.

I honestly believe peterson could be up there as the biggest waste of money since that sculpture outside total fitness!!!




To be fair though he looked a lot more interested in sats game than any ive seen him in this year....prob cos sky was there and wanted to make him self noticed to all local porn directors and jazz bar owners.

There's no doubting that Matt Petersen has the ability to be an asset to the club and the team. He has a very good reputation in the NRL and that doesn't happen by chance.

However, and I've said this before about other players, sometimes a transfer just doesn't work out and it's not because the player isn't good or that the club hasn't looked after him. It's not because the player isn't committed to the cause, it's not because of some kind of backroom unrest or any other kind of disruptive influence. The injuries obviously haven't helped him settle into the team and as a result he is now really struggling to establish himself in the eyes of the fans and quite possibly in the hearts and minds of his teammates and coaches.

In my opinion such a situation can only exist to so long before it becomes irretrievable and the best thing for both parties is to go their separate ways in an amicable fashion. Maybe Wakefield Trinity and Matt Petersen have reached this stage or maybe not, I would suggest that we have until the end of this season to find out even though Peterson has a further year on his contract. I would hope that we can get behind Matt Petersen until the end of the year as that would benefit everybody.
