I feel I should add some balance to what I wrote earlier.
There are some extremely selfless and amazing people involved with the junior game as well, many of whom do their bit month in month out for no other reason than to provide children with a chance to play Rugby League.
There are some excellent forward thinking coaches who understand 'development' and work hard to improve their players win lose or draw, it's not about trophies for them!
There are some amazing parents at every club, they fund, fetch, carry, taxi and support for all the right reasons!
They far outnumber the types from my earlier post and along with the enjoyment of coaching and developing young players they make the it a very worthy vocation.

| Hi again need to clear a few things up
from fact fiction etc
1. A referee must not put himself in dangour
If a mass brawl ensues .
( running on telling him he's the causes when you coach them does nothing long term, go figure it. )
2. Those wanting referee to break up fights , in what order ? Does he pull out your jimmybobbs first only for some one to punch him whilst he does ?
3. As soon as a 15 year old touches your somn it's trouble, once it's a 16 year + the ref is looking at trouble
I find it disturbing that a group of sane humans can heckle , sware , shout , get in the face of a child ( yep some are men/beans) but today .
Yes the ref looked inexperienced , it may of been his 1st
Might be his last , but I will assure you this
The Wakefield district refs are a tough lot
and from my lad to his own mentor Ben T r
And if you have a complaint make it good. Don't get me wrong ebb will act upon it but if as a coach you been bad then wooosh

| Had the strangest of P Ms with regards my own son and his appearances in match reports . This came admittedly from the Humber but the guy is normally in touch with the coach who crigg played yesterday. All Russ wanted to know was did he still play as they had heard nothing of him .
Well after looking in the packed trophy cabinet I can confirm that although as known by those who need to know like his phyisio and coach etc that reports of his demise have been strongly exaggerated .
He's looking forward to get back into the shape that got him the coaches man of steel in the quater and semi final of the last cup we won
I hope this clears this up and remember he is 12

| Quote ="wildcat13"I understand coaching is a thankless task but I believe the blame lies with them.My lad plays u11's and every week if not top tackler he is in the top 3 but cannot get his hands on the ball cos 2-3 kids have it superglued to their hands. At the moment they can't buy a win but the coach will not change the way they play and 2 weeks ago packed it in but is still doing it even tho somebody else is doing it.When you speak to him he hides behind the club and is arrogant but yet as a parent you are expected to just stand and watch while the spirit is drained from the team and they just argue between themselves to the extent that 2 have gone this week.'"
I think a lot of parents are caught in the same situation.
I've been watching and helping since the under 9s, there are some more dominate bigger players within teams at that young age which is difficult to get them to release the ball as it starts off driving the ball on runs, off loads or passes then tend to form a swarm around the ball, quite endearing at a young age but frustrating as the kids grow up, try telling 10 year old to stay in position and keep focus on the ball takes some doing.
the next stage is you will get kids that start to run across the line passing all the players that are hold station waiting for the ball and their chance.
it doesn't get any easier as they grow up but a good coach should be able to talk to their parents and the parents should have some trust in there coaching
is the arguing between players or parents?

Between the players they were at it before they started on Saturday but after talking to the young un after it turns out it is always the same kid who wants more of the ball even though he gets it probably twice a set, every set,the problem there being he is the coaches favourite with everything that comes with that and also his dad shouting on the sidelines that he should get even more ball. This in turn is causing an underlying tension between the parents.

This ones going to be a tricky one to sort out if the coach can't see that its splitting the team, and the parent isn't approachable.
I would be tempted to mention to the coach that it is a team event
I've been there and still watch certain players even now monopolise the ball but it doesn't stop your lad developing.
I've always taught my lad to look for the break away and follow in their trail hoping for that pass, they tend to look mighty foolish keeping that ball when an open chance goes begging.

think its summet that happens in all ages of junior rugby my lad plays at u8s and parents a always saying its same collective two or three that gets most of the ball and there probally right i know why its done cos there generally better players and a coach (who is in the middle at that age) will always look to his better players to get them away from own try line or get over the whitewash esp when losing at the time but i can see and understand why the parents find it unfair as its the same with subbing.i say this as a parent of lad who is always in top three of ball carries but in top three of tackles too

| We've got West Bowling away tomorrow - we put a big score on them last time, but I understand they've improved a lot since then, so it should be an interesting one.

| A very lacklustre performance by The Spartans away to a resurgent West Bowling this morning, for the 2nd week running the lads were very subdued.
Like last week, a better but not great second half display got the job done.

| Eastmoor Dragons under 12’s travelled to Newsome Panthers today and were beaten 22-12 in a physical, and at times scrappy game. I think the referee left his whistle in the changing room as he struggled to get both teams to retrieve 10 metres and failed to penalise numerous infringements at the play the ball. This contributed to the flow of the game and left players on both teams frustrated and confused. However the effort was certainly there from the Dragons but at times they lacked the application.
Unfortunately we only had 13 players today and would therefore welcome any year 8 schoolboy to our training sessions on a Tuesday and Thursday at 6.30. Anybody who wants to give rugby a go for the first time or somebody wanting to get back into the game or fancies a change of club is more than welcome to sample junior rugby at the Dragons Den

I will also add that I do this reluctantly- but they'd be no game otherwise ( same can be said of the ref - but at least he gets paid !).'"
blime sponge , its a lot more than that from the old dears that open up the club houses at the crack of dawn (ground frost n all) to the last one in after open age as gone and the ashtrays are tempted its a big effort.
a little hot air let out from the touch line but for those not there all parents were stood together and mixed , think i will leave it at that.

the nipper in about his 5/6 scored his 1st try after going on the wing from a kick that locked years ahead of his years the player who did it a young pup of a former wakey great/legend and also rhino legend for my nips to dive catch and score getting the nick name RYAN HALL hes not to sure about that.
but if i say so myself a mighty fine try by anyone at that level, the lad who put the kick up will probably go places if he keeps a level head.

No waterlogged pitch at lock lane and they certainly had a full team raring to go on saturday morning against crigg!!!
Lets just leave it at that and let the powers that be decide why the game was cancelled late Thursday evening which I'm understood has left the players and coaching staff at lock lane fuming.

| Today Stanley Rangers u14s continued with another fine win at the expense of Normanton Knights 6-28. Having heard that a few players had left Normy I did half expect a bigger score line but to their respect put up a solid defense at the start of the game and their attack in the second half.
Next week is the last game of the season home to East Leeds
don't know about the lad but I'm ready to put my feet up for awhile
kick off is 11-30

| With the RL season drawing to a close, does anyone fancy playing the winter season at Castleford Rugby Union Club? We have boys and girls teams from 6 year old to Colts (under 17). We welcome players of all abilities, the majority of our sides are made up of 50% pure union players and 50% players who play league and union.
We would especially welcome girls of all ages, year 10 boys and a full year 9 team. Details below.
Girls -- all ages, we have a strong presence in the Yorkshire Squad, we are also looking to send girls to the North of England trials. All ages and abilities welcome, training is on Wednesday night.
Year 10 boys, we have a squad of 16, of the 16 we have 3 Central Yorkshire players, I player about to break into full Yorkshire honours, and 1 player who only plays union has signed terms for the Huddersfield Giants scholarship, we have great links to all the Pro Rl clubs and actively put players forward for RL scholarships and also District and county trials. We also have 4 players who have never played rugby before. We are looking to increase our squad to 22 players. Training is Tuesday and Wednesday, matches are Sunday at 11am, all abilities welcome
Year 9 boys, we do not have a team at this age and are looking for a league team to Come on masse and play about 10 games, this would be ideal for a team to tick over in the winter, to stop kids drifting off to other sports or loosing them altogether.
Other training information --- the colts (school years 11 and 12) and the seniors train on Tuesday and Thursday, we have 3 senior teams and are setting up a veterans team so any parents interested in a game let me know
All other junior training is on a Wednesday night.
We have a good spread of union and league coaches at the club, some are very highly qualified and have worked at England schoolboy and Superleague reserve/scholarship level. So the kids defintely benefit from playing and training at dual codes. We do welcome all players, from the ones who simply want to be part of a team and maybe didn't get game time at a RL or football club, to players who are signed on scholarships, or who have scholarship ambitions.
Unlike RL in Union we don't have leagues until under 17's so the bulk of our games are friendlies, so no pressure for players who are new and don't understand the rules.
We also have a great social.
Family membership is £30 for the season, we don't at the moment pay subs ( except seniors) but some age groups ask that you join the 100 club a monthly raffle at £5 a month, if anyone can't afford the membership we will always try and help out.
The season runs from now until the 28th May, so any of the RL players would be able to probably play between 12-18 games with us, depending on there need for breaks and also the winter weather situation.
Good luck with the end of the season, if anyone wants details, contact numbers or any other info please post here or drop me a pm.

Good luck with the end of the season, if anyone wants details, contact numbers or any other info please post here or drop me a pm.'"
Forgot to mention tomorrow ( Sunday 7th Oct) we have a special training session at 10.00am for any girls interested in having a go at rugby, free food and drink after, all welcome any ability

| panthers 12s travelled to east leeds for a early kick off with east leeds running out 26-12 winners, the panthers led 12-6 at the break despite a player been sin binned and the strange decisions continued into the second half and the weight of possesion for the big east leeds side going down the slope proved too much to handle.
