| Based on one game, Tony was sound in both attack and defense, and if that continues, it will make it hard for anyone to displace him.
What may prove his downfall for making the FB shirt his own, is his ability to play elsewhere.
That said, competition for places and some added experience is just what we need, and looks good for the latter half of the season.

He's that decent a full back FC were prepared to let Briscoe go to KR and keep Tony, and as for the organising type he did plenty of that while we were defending yesterday.

I'd love to know how you managed to deduce this. In what way was Tony an improvement on Blaymire.
So on one game Tony is the man despite what looked a fairly ordinary display against a team that rarely threatened whilst Vievers isn't SL class in a million years and neither is Blaymire. Thankfully JK is coach and you are not
Tony hasn't played SL for 4 years, since when!
I've never understood why people feel the need to big up one player by bagging another - why?'"
Blaymire does not offer anything he is so slow. Motu Tony is a world class FB you dont play for NZ not being world class. Blaymire as failed to get faster and is non existant in attack --------------- that is blaymire mediocore. This is my opinion and many people agree with me I dont need your approval Vastman. You are probably the only person in Wakefield that still loves Ted when everyone else with half a brain can see what damage that man as done.

That makes Smith 'world class'. Now whilst he had a decent game yesterday, he's a long way short of that honour!

What has that to do with anything, you are tiresome.
This is the same Tony who you were calling a waste of time a bit back, and now after one game in 4 years (allegedly) he's a NZ test F/B you really are a turd sometimes.

The point is only you seem to think that he did, you are hardly in the majority - it's obvious to only you. Most people like myself just seem to think he played better than expected which is not the same thing.
Why your obsession with dissing Blaymire at every occasion (other than when he's had a good game and you claim to have always been a fan) - did he chat up your imaginary girlfriend.

| I personally thought Tony had a 'good' 1st game back but if im been completely honest i thought he was out of position on a couple of occasions, which is one thing you cannot fault Blaymire for. Electric pace he doesnt have, positional sense he does.
Im not bagging anyone though, i thought they all played well. Tony, Smith and Moore were all decent, but for me, the 2 centres followed by either Amor (if you forget the offload) or Higgins would have been my 3-2-1

I'd agree with that though it's unlikely, however my point is that doesn't make Blaymire a bad player.

| not what so ever. blaymire is one of the best fullbacks under the high ball ive ever seen, he is a good to average superleague player in my eyes. regards to motu he most likely wont get back to that form again but we can only hope as he can play a number of vital positions.

That neither Smith nor Tony can be claimed to be World Class merely on the basis of having played for NZ at some point in their career. to be world class means to be competing regularly with that ilk - IMO.

| Look at us arguing over our choice of FBs
After the season we have had it's amazing that we have the luxury of debating such a matter.
I was thrilled when we first announced the signing of Motu Tony as I felt he would be a real asset to the team. Unfortunately, due to one reason or another he has had a disrupted season and it's dissapointing that he has come into the side so late in the season.
Matty Blaymire remains the only specialised full back who is up to SL standard at the club IMO. Motu Tony has the luxury of that utility 'tag' and can play a number of different positions to the required standard, he isn't however a specialised fullback....and Blaymire is.

Tony is a specialised fullback who also has the ability to play in other positions where as blaymire can only play fullback. I am not saying one is better than the other I ma just stating facts.

ngb4c got a bit excited claiming Tony was world class on the back of a tremendous debut considering the conditions which also made his job that more difficult as a full back, who cares whether any of the other full backs would have done any better or worse Tony did everything asked of him yesterday so its no wonder some people are praising him. My point is this nobody is claiming Smith is a world beater so why the comparison? if in your opinion Tony is not up to your percieved standard then why not just say so instead instead of using somebody else who also has not had the chance to prove himself as yet to further your pointless arguement.

ngb4c is claiming just that, he made the comparison not TRB - he just answered it - think you may have got the wrong end of the stick here.
If Tony makes the F/B position his for the rest of the season I'm fine with that as we all probably are, but that doesn't make him better than Blaymire and I seriously doubt it will make him world class.

WOWW there cowboy - I haven't knocked Tony and wouldn't want to, in fact I have maintained that he is a gamble worth taking as he is a proven player (quality wise) and if we can get him fit and on the park for a few games the money invested in him will pay us back several times over.
My point is with NGB4C suggesting that he is WC on the basis of having played - once upon a time - for NZ.
Me thinks you either have the wrong end of the stick or got out of the wrong side of bed!

Yes I suppose it would if he does, that's not really an insight is it Mopsey more a statement of the bleeding obvious. Shall we give it more than one game before we make a final decision?
