For genuine fans of the club and the game it is causing concern. For those who wish it, it's the golden opportunity to link us to our past, to say we're a leopard that can't change our spots, that we're now being ,mentioned in the same terms as Case, Salford and Bradford once more and that we should have been thrown out at the SL licencing time!!!

I find it hard to believe that we were so naive that we allowed this to happen, if we were in position to stop it, when we must gave known the potential damage it could cause!

Someone needs to be held account for this 'mistake' its not good enough and of course its the wider isssue not just for the club but the game in general the perception being is that RL clubs (well some of them) can traet the HMRC with contempt or are at the very least dismiss it.

The reputational damage of this order is massive IMHO.

Absolutely, one bad story wipes out eighteen months of hard work and effort.
It will take us ten years of such hard work to rid us of our pariah tag, and now we will have to start from scratch.

Elston is the man in charge of the day to day running of the club, he should be hauled over the coals for letting this situation arise and made to explain himself. The buck stops there. 18 months of positive pr has been undone overnight, pretty much back to square one on that count.

Thinking about it logically I can't see how there is more to this, we know only 2 years ago we had our debts wiped out and since then the club have done a great job of making money and selling tickets, so it'd be some leap to make.

The club should have been informing us of this before it happened, that would have been far better and on their own terms. Not finding out the way we did and then doing damaged limitations, it almost seemed they were wanting the news to go by without hopefully no one noticing.

If the club react how they have been doing, they will want to make this right with the fans and explain themselves more thoroughly.

Seems like an issue resolved. Only thing that confuses me, is why the statement has to be "requested by some" before it is published?

Surely as courtesy to the fans, they should have made people aware of this WUO coming out in the press and saying 'it has been resolved' before the balloon goes up? as can be seen on this thread!

Bit of transparency wouldn't go amiss? And why on earth are unpaid tax bills and missed payments rife in rugby league!?

The club could recover some credibility if they release more details. Dates, money involved and ultimately whose fault it was.

Of course it is a courtesy to fans, although our recent history and yours for that matter shows that often courtesy is overlooked.
Under our new ownership we have been treat far better than the previous owner but of course there are issues that we should know nothing about; that's fair.
For this issue to be considered as one of them is a spectacular mistake as was getting in this position in the first place, and mistakes need to be rectified and owned up to.
This was definitely news in the public (wakefield supporters) interest.
If whoever thought this would blow over undetected for their own good, it was a huge error of judgement.

The target for 4000 season tickets could have been seriously compromised if this had come out when it first arose so it might be the reason it wasnt mentioned.Then again we are so close to making the target I would be very annoyed if the target is missed because of this.The one thing this does is put a very bad light on things at the club even if HMRC came out with a statement themselves that it was a simple error by the club.For the first time in years the club looked like it was being run as a great club with great things to come this has now been knocked back to the dark days.
Here we are after 18 months of good things going on and the club being talked about as a model of what can be done with the right people and things put in place now looking to the outside world as if everything is going to go belly up again.Lets face facts if you had a company and was on the verge of being a sponsor would you now go through with it - probably not at all.

Agree with most on here but I think we are over reacting. Mistakes happen - we are all human. Don't get me wrong, it's a very big mistake but it's been dealt with. These things do happen unfortunately and no doubt someone will be feeling the wrath of AG this morning but let's move on. It's paid, cleared whatever else you want to call it. We are about to hit season ticket target, we are very close to being given the green light to Newmarket and have just smugness SOO prop forward with other classy players being talked to. The positives far outweigh the negatives. And the more we talk about it the longer it will linger. Let's move on..........

As much as I understood why there is some hero worship for the 'saviour' we should have put this lot under the same scrutiny as the last lot. Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it, and buddying up to the owner and CE is one thing we didn't need to happen again.

AG is a successful businessman, would he make such an error with his own business? I don't think so, it's a very odd mistake to make, if it is a mistake.

Whichever way you look at this ... all the hard work that the club (officials / fans) have been doing since all the troubles last time round... this simply erodes any confidence people may have in the new WTRLFC

Elston and the rest know this - which is why I am amazed it has got to this - even if this is an oversight.

All i know is that if i was Mr Glover with my other double glazing business, the publicity this is attracting, and giving ammo to the knockers, i would have moved heaven and earth not to have got to this stage.

"Unprofessional" and "playing at it" is the phrase i've heard most to describe this club.

I don't doubt this is nothing to worry about but its very poor.

So, a new regime with the same outcome!

Instead of trumpeting the signatures of an Aussie prop, Hudson & Dickens, how about employing a Finance Manager.

With the club under constant scrutiny from HMRC due to previous failings, this is one bill that takes preference, an oversight shouldn’t be an option.

He failed has part of the team with the last lot, failed at KR and now he's at it again.

AG should have swept the old stuff out.

Been my point for ages now. Running a RL is difficult in the extreme and the old regime kept us afloat for ten years. Ultimately they failed but they still left with a club someone wanted and a place in SL at the time. Those people who worship AG should wait a while.

As it happens I'm reasonably happy with whats gone on but as I've said before much of it is window dressing and many of the ideas were old one rehashed. AG a good salesman but this is a poor effort for me.

Also JE was part of the old regime, a big part which is often forgotten. Jimmy does OK most of the time but he was created by Ted not Glover and sometimes old habits might die hard (that's just a might).

Finally a winding up order even from HMRC despite what the Bradford troll suggest is often nothing, in this case let's hope it is so.
