| Sadly, there is nothing for September planning meeting that involves the Stadium Redevelopment. I wish the citizens of Wakefield had a council with some backbone, that would stand up to the property developers involved in this fiasco. There must be a time limit to how long a developer can stall this development. In order not to fulfill their obligations to the enabling fund.
This month planning agenda
PLANNING AND HIGHWAYS COMMITTEE Thursday, 16 September 2021 AGENDA
1. Chair's Announcements.
2. To note any items which the Chair has agreed to add to the agenda on the grounds of urgency.
3. Members' Declarations of Interest.
Members are reminded of the requirement to make an appropriate verbal declaration at the meeting on any item(s) on this agenda in which they have an interest. Having done so, Members are asked to complete a form detailing the declaration, which will be available from the Committee Officer at the meeting.
4. Apologies for Absence.
5. To approve as a correct record, the Minutes of the Meeting of the Planning and Highways Committee held on 15 July 2021. (Pages 1 - 3)
6. Planning Applications. (Wards Affected: No's 1, 10, 14 & 16) (Pages 5 - 60)
7. Tree Preservation Order TPO/21/00189/I - Trees at Altofts Hall, Station Road, Normanton WF6 2NB. (Pages 61 - 71)
8. Application Claiming a Public Footpath Along Parkfield Lane, North Featherstone. (Pages 73 - 79)
9. Application Claiming a Public Footpath Between Lee Moor Road and Rogers Court, Stanley. (Pages 81 - 87)

I think if we had a council that had a backbone this stadium fiasco would have been sorted out a long time ago.
I cling to the thought that no news is good news, but the deafening silence about progress is doing nothing for my hopes!

| The council can't force the developer to submit an application, they can only work on what they recieve and any subsequent approval and conditions of said application. Frustrating and a further delay tactic but ultimately YC will want to develop at some point, it's just whether or not they are prepared to play the long game and hope we go away somehow. Even if that were to happen, the council should stand strong and get the community facility they shouldve do out of this sham.

Over the years of this fiasco, I’ve lost track re the council’s involvement regarding the initial handover of council land to the developers. I’m sure if someone could dig deep enough, they might unearth that the land could be returned to council ownership if the developers failed to act within a timescale.
I know, I’m just grasp at straws

Yorkcourt have just submitted totally revamped plans for the plot, changing the number of warehouses, size & layout etc, which will take time to process and consider. Don't expect it to hit the committee for consideration anytime soon.

Wasn't the land owned, at least in part, by Oldroyds of Rhubarb fame?

This is where it should of stopped a simple no more builds until they commit to the stadium as promised but of course the council don't give a toss.

Do you have a link for that information, I’ve had a quick look and can’t find any updates.
Please bear in mind the piece of land for the Enabling development comes under
“Plot 8 Newmarket Lane “ Thanks

I know which plot it is, it's all on the original application 20/02249/FUL in the documents section. They changed the designs for the plot at the end of August.

It's all the more frustrating when low level football clubs can manage to muster enough coin to develop their ground
South Shield FC
https://t.co/ZggPHqxEwv?amp=1
Looking at the size and depth of it this is a cracking solution for the WT. I dare say a standing terrace could run the length too where the blocks are shown to boost the 900 seater stand wherw it ro be implemented at BV

I know a better solution but get the point.
Sometimes you just want to scream at WMDC 'WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE', there are plenty of cost-effective ways out there to upgrade BV to a reasonable level for community use. We are not after being the Wembley of the North, just a little inward investment used wisely and creatively.

Thanks for that SC, I’ve jhad a look at the site plan and the documents from SoS, who approves the planning application, (with the usual recommendations), there is an awful Olof information that the planning committee will havto trawl through.

Sure is mate. And by dumping a shedload more (and completely different to previously) over the last couple of weeks then hopes of a quick conclusion have disappeared into the ether. The date has already changed to the end of November. It is almost guaranteed to be after that, maybe heard around the start of next season if we are lucky.

| I was told this morning from a usually reliable source, that Trinity have submitted an updated application for the East Stand. The hospitality boxes to run full length of the stand, instead of just the centre section. Apparently there is some information on the Facebook red white blue army, asking for support, I don’t do Facebook so I can’t check. I’ve checked the planning portal for stadium, but no new documentation on there, so perhaps nothing new just yet.

Your source is correct. Planning soon, build not far after is what I’m told. Of course that comes with plenty of caution but something has happened to giddy up YC, no idea what.
I don’t think the addition of the boxes requires extra support from the fans so long as it sits in the foot print of the initial plans but I may be wrong. I’m sure we will be told if required.

The next scheduled council planning meeting is October 14th. I seem to recall John Minards saying, he would like trinity fans to support the Plot 8 application, if the enabling funding was agreed and in place before the day of application hearing. Hopefully, we’ll hear something in the next few days.

It won't be that one regarding the stadium hearing, think a few weeks later for that. As for plot 8, I've lost track.
