Neither the club nor a "Gronk" type figure have made any stupid promises regarding who we are likely to get. As long as it's not a comedy figure (Agar, Harrison, Goulding, McCrae etc) then I'm sure we can accept the final decision in a positive frame of mind.
If the plans are to set on one of the clowns mentioned above then it would have been a good idea to slip the anouncement out yesterday whilst everyone was laughing at Cas.

There where multiple options apparently available (Millward, Noble, Powel, Cummings, maybe Morgan, maybe Gentle) all who would be, in my opinion of course, a much better option than Kear for next year - we we have every oppertunity to get the right man, so Glover needs to get it right.

I cant believe Richard Agar is still being mentioned in becoming our coach!!! its like torture this, can we just name somebody else apart from him!! If it was somebody like Francis Cummings he would be a young coach with a clean slate who could take himself and the club forward, I am hoping if it is him or somebody like him with some good investment this could be a exciting new future for this club..

The investments there. JE's already banded around us recruiting another 5 players- Do we have 3 more quota spots free? Hickey and Bluey? If the coach decision does go in favour of Cummins he should be asking his mentor (Smith) to recommend some players and go to Oz with with the angle of selling himself as being the former student of Smith- A man who's still very respected down under.

Nobody can doubt the quality of his training & focus on player/youth development are reported to be outstanding. Also his abilities have been publicly mentioned by all he worked with (Smith and Noble)- we all know how hard it can be getting praise from our superiors!

JC has a very good reputation with SL players, with our clean slate and much improved backroom staff this could be a perfect match. Don't get me wrong I would still prefer Gentle- even if it was just for 1 year with JC in the seat next to him, waiting that final year!

I could live with a new young british coach like Franny he has served a good apprenticeship under some really good coaches.

If it is Francis Cummings then the level of inspiration will have much to do with his first press release and his initial signings.

If he speaks with conviction about doing the right things and targets some quality signings then his appointment would be a boost to season ticket sales.

bang on Clan I'm with you on this, it would be a risk and would depend upon how he portrays himself to boost ticket sales etc.

If its Cummings then i'll get behind him and wish him all the best but i'm just a bit unsure that at just 34 whether he is ready for a position as head coach, especially if we have someone as equally inexperienced alongside him. Theres also the risk that he will be seen as the cheap option, whether that is true or not. I guess we'll find out soon enough either way. Maybe an experienced director of football above him would help and i'd certainly like to have someone else with a welth of knowledge in AG's ear though about rugby matters rather than just JE.

I would say that Noble does but still wouldn't be my choice. I think the biggest reason that Kear had to go was that the whole Club needed freshening up from top to bottom. I do agree though he will be a tough act to follow especially given that the new coach will have funds beyond what Kear or any other coach at Wakey has had.

He would get my support, with a decent assistant. From the club's point of view, he would probably be half the price too when compared to some of the other names mentioned. It has to be remembered that Gentle is no more proven as a head coach than Cummins.

The only thing that would worry me is that he does not come across as a person with much of a physical presence. Shouters and bawlers are good for a few games but momentum burns out eventually, and I have never seen Wayne Bennett scream and shout. But then again, maybe he did in his younger days. Cummins always comes across as a pretty quiet and measured sort of bloke, and so I have that nagging doubt that for all his rugby expertise, he might not command a team very well.

Having said that, I hope as fans, whoever the coach is, he is given 18 months at least before people think about getting on his back. If it's someone new to a head coach role, we have got to accept that the first year might not be great.

Mind you, I'll give Goulding two games before I'm calling for his exit, those being the Boxing Day fixture at Leeds and the friendly at Fev.

I have played under Cummins and he is the real deal. He is a fantastic coach and deserves a chance. He is very highly respected by most of the players who have played with or under him. The ones who have bad things to say are the players with big egos who think they are some kind of superstars as he soon puts them in their place.
I hope he gets the job as do a lot of the current squad who know him.

I'll be happy with Cummins, local lad from dewsbury, however how we go will depend on the rest of the coaching staff as well, add to that good player recruitment and we could have a really bright future and all that with an English coach.

yeah heard lots of good things about him
