Opening weekend SKY fixtures:

Saints at Home (to show off their shiny new stadium)
Salford at home (to show off Sale's shiny new stadium)
Widnes at home to some sacrificial lamb (to show the public they can compete)

I can see us and Cas getting the away fixtures at Saints and Salford though, just so that Eddie and Stevo can slag off our grounds in comparison.

I go back to what I said towards the end of last season - we ought to do a media day down at BV, with a big presentation on our plans for NM; some proper images of the stadium (not drawings in crayon) and an overview of what will actually be there - a bit like the one that Francis Stephenson delivered at a fans forum what seems like ages ago. Get YorkCourt, Sir Rodney and anyone else with credibility involved, and invite as many media bods as possible - wine, dine and hopefully, send them away with some positive impressions of our progress towards improvement.

That gives at least a fighting chance that when we're referred to in the media throughout next season, it won't always be in the scathing, patronising or negative tone that we were subjected to last season.

Does that mean that we'll be getting Cas on opening day soon then?

Great idea, the club have used a number of the ideas posted on here by supporters, hopefully this will be another one.

No, I still don't think despite the diggers being on site 3 years ago that there will be a new stadium to play in at GH anytime soon.

Must be the case then. Lets hope we see a different result to the last time the club were the sacrificial lambs, although I would take a similar season.

Whether it's this idea or another one, we certainly need to do something to get the media talking us up a bit, or at least not sticking the boot in.

Timing is key however - it would need to be close to the start of the season; journalists are lazy bleeders, so if it's not on the radar when the season starts, they'll forget all about it and revert to type.

At the minute, you have week three off.

Away at Widenss means we have to win, mainly to stop them gaining any momentum and for us, to start well.
The really bizzare thing is, that when you glance down the fixture list, there doesn't seem to be mayy "easy" games.

We need to spoil Sky's little party by beating Widnes home and away which just happens to be 1st and 2nd last fixtures of the season. I'm sure the sky commentary team will have thier claws out quoting bull , instead of doing their job and commenting on the action only. Eddie and Stevo need to be retrained by the BBC or retire,TV viewers are fed up with politics and just want to watch the action.
