| Stunning give a good team some credit. I doubt we will win the thing as we have not been the best team and Wire will take some beating.
As for the challenge on Blanch from Locky the lad was not tackled so what was Locky meant to do?
Let him get up and run 20 meters down field?
Wigan play to the rules they just do it better than most other teams. Its funny how nobody cared about Wigan when they were cack under Noble but now they are winning again they are the epitome of all things evil.
I would shudder to think if some of you watched the nrl or state of origin and the moaning that would go on then.

A line ball to me is a line ball its a 50/50.
First watch it looked forward from the angle it was shown at, the only angle that made it look a 50/50 was the one behind the sticks at half time.
Lets be honest both team got away with murder at time and i thought it was good to watch there were high shots and more than a few face attacks from Les Cats particularly on Locky and Tomkins but somehow they get missed.
If you think the line ball being ruled out was a match changer fair play, personally I think the poor defence and conditioning of the Catalans team clinched it for Wigan but fair play if you think that disallowed try has changed the history of the SL this year.

As I've already said - the majority of the RL community has no respect or admiration for Wigan's achievements under Maguire, because whilst they may have been done within the letter of the law, they've been massively outside the spirit of it.
As a neutral, the brand of RL Maguire has your team playing is ugly, frustrating and unpleasant to watch; as an opposition supporter, it's downright offensive to watch your own players being bent, smashed and twisted, whilst your lot use every dirty, underhand and niggly tactic possible to extract even the tiniest advantage, with a blatant disregard for the welfare of their fellow professionals.
Supporting Wigan is like being friends with the school bully - it's fun until it's being done to you.

I love the concept that Wigan in the "glory years" were lauded by all and praised for the brand of rugby they played. How time clouds the facts.

Wigan have played Champagne rugby and been recognised for it in the past.
This brand of Maguire/Brown rule-bending is not in any way attractive.
I am happy to be thrashed by Saints or indeed any team that plays flowing rugby.
I have stood and applauded many teams that have done something special against my team - they shoe RL for the art form it can be.
Wigan don't do that - they play a filthy, unattractive kind of rugby.

| The game was over as a contest thanks to the ref they should have been going in at 18-12. Whys
should we think before the game that if Catalan dont get robbed then they have a chance. It was over as a contest after the 1st half. Pat Richards may aswell took the whistle off ganson as he was going to give Catalan there 1st. I feel sorry for the poor french who actually made the trip to Wigan. It was shocking and embarrassing. Shows what a set of pathetic individuals we have reffing the game over here. Even when we played Leeds at Headingly it was 40-6 and they were still getting 50-50 calls. Australia games you dont see crap like we saw tonight!

What is your point exactly. I am happy to admit that once again Wigan are playing the game professionally dragging the game forward to the next level in this country.
I am happy to say they push the boundaries but play to the rules.
Once again Wigan do this and are slated just like they were when they had the glory years, even though they dragged the game back then kicking and screaming into the professional era and got the same level of vitriol spat at them. Not sure how old you are but I am 33 on Tuesday, my first real memory of rugby league was 85 cup final the start of the revolution and I remember the same level of abuse and criticism thrown at Wigan for what they did back then as i hear today.
To be fair though the criticism today has yet to reach the levels it did back then, due to Wigan cheating for employing full time professionals (even though Leeds did it first).

Disagree they raised the issue of Richards calling for the fourth official when in truth on the replay Ganson was always going for it, once again admitted by the due after the replay but with less of an emphasis that they were in fact wrong., and regardless the call was right. The lad was offside he broke the rules, so not sure what stance you are trying to take?
Claiming Wigan cheated but trying to justify a try was chalked off, that was against the rules.
Don't blame the refs, Richards or anyone else. Blame the left winger for Les Cats for coming up with such a poor idiotic play. Still easier I guess to slag the evil Wigan club.

SG was about to award the try until Richards came over whingeing footballer-esque telling SG to refer it.
Agree with Rumour 13's post, which is why most neutrals will be supporting Saints next week.

Watch every try scored when the Sky team are there they call for the video ref, every time. Because Eddie states that Richards changes the mind of a St Helens supporting ref against Wigan is laughable. Watch the replay, even Eddie admits he got it wrong.
The fact remains though that the player was offside and it was correctly not allowed so not sure what point you are trying to make. The decision was correct no try offside.
If you think the game swung on those decisions (that and the line ball) you are disillusioned.

It actually amuses me that Wigan fans refuse to accept that the universal dislike of their style of play by the majority of neutral fans, not to mention the condemnation of many well-respected coaches, is all based on jealousy.
If that's the case, where are the outpourings of hatred when other teams get flogged by Warrington or Saints?

I totally understand why people do not like Wigan, we play a very hard on the edge game and play it well.
I put my hand up the Pia try could well have gone for Les Cats but the offside was clearly offside it did not need to be, it was poor play by the winger but that is not Wigans fault.
I say again i do not see the hysteria when Tomkins and Locky were attacked on the floor to the face on several occasions?
As for the line of Wigan being respected in the glory years, you have very short memories.

Most of the adult public who watch the games are of the Wigan glory generation, once again I say those who claim Wigan were not slated in this period much more than they are now have very short memories, and much is the residue of that. Hence the glee when Wigan were getting smashed by 70 points not too long ago by most fans.
The fact is the Pia try could have gone either way, I am happy to say it probably should have been a try. Did the result swing on that......no. The offside try was poor play by the Cats winger he did not need to be offside but he was, he put himself in a stupid position for no reason and cost his team a try.How that is Wigans fault I have no idea.
I currently find it very it very interesting to not read the outcry about breaches of the Salary cap by paying players outside of the cap by nearly every club other than Wigan with this image rights situation. Wigan breach the spirit of the cap at the same time as most other clubs are robbing the government and cheating the cap (Hull just settled for over £1million payment half of what they apparently owed) yet Wigan are evil.
Once again though it is clearly me that is blinkered.

Coley kicked out agreed, the lad was hanging onto his leg but it was excessive fair play.
The Cats player put himself in that position by grabbing his leg trying to slow the PTB down though, but I agree could have been a penalty. Potentially either way.
Tomkins and Locky also clearly put their heads in the position on their back to take elbows from the French team.

The reason i cant stand wigan is because they cheat - in every aspect from tompkins and his football style theatrics throwing himself to the ground at every opportunuty, thier belief that they can (and unfortunatly often succeed in) intimidating officials, but most of all THEIR CONTINUED BREACH OF THE SALARY CAP RULE YEAR AFTER YEAR - no ethics at all - cheat to win.

Its not the fact Wigan play hard which people dislike. People love the game being played hard. Its the fact Wigan rely on getting the referee on side, the tactic of trapping the tacklers arm in the tackle and rolling over on to it to try and milk a penalty, the tactic of holding a player up in a tackle and attacking the knee, the wrestling etc etc, Wigan may want to describe these things as playing the game on the edge, everyone else describes them as dirty.
You may think you are moving the game forward, unfortunately you are moving it forward to a place people dont want to go. I dont want to watch a game where people try and win by milking decisions, by underhand wrestling tactics, by tackling in such a way as to increase the pressure on opposition players joints, where wrestling technique counts for as much as passing, kicking and offloading, where the latest way to stretch a shoulder muscle or a bend a knee unnaturally plays as much a part in the game as a barnstorming run from a prop. Its quite frankly a boring game to watch.
