Co-operative Championship One Grand Final winners Keighley Cougars are officially kicking off the Alcohol Awareness Week that is being led by
the Bradford Safer Communities Partnership.

The Alcohol Awareness week will run in the Bradford District Council's
area from Monday, October 19 until Friday, October 24. But the Cougars
are staging a special 'kick off' event at Cougar Park, Royd Ings Avenue,
Keighley BD21 3RF at 2.00pm on FRIDAY, OCTOBER 16.

Cougars' Head Coach Barry Eaton - a Rugby League world record goal
kicker in his own right - will take part in an experiment to illustrate
the power of alcohol. He will take a set number of goal kicks totally
sober and then take a strong alcoholic drink. Then he will be asked to
take the same number of kicks at goal. After which he will take another
drink and then see whether the alcohol affects his accuracy. This is
believed to be a first in Rugby League and related sports.

All this will be done under the strictest medical supervision - one of
the doctors from Keighley's Holycroft Surgery will be overseeing the
experiment - while he will be observed by the Minister for Sport Gerry
Sutcliffe, the MP for Bradford South, Mr Allan Doherty, the Commander of
Police for Bradford North and Airedale and Councillor Glen Miller, the
chairman of Bradford Council's Keighley Area Committee.

Can you blame them, they had plenty to celebrate. And lets face it, they wont be playing again for a little while, so...goes off to hunt down vodka bottle

Just one question on this seeing as Barry will be drinking and authorities watching as part of programme how will he get home, hope he as arranged a driver.

How about a competition for fans but in reverse drink as much as you can see if it makes us kick more accurate.
