Co-operative Championship One Grand Final winners Keighley Cougars have
been invited to a civic reception by Keighley Town Council to celebrate
their victory over Oldham at the Halliwell Jones Stadium, Warrington
yesterday.

The reception will be staged at Keighley Town Hall on Wednesday, October
7th at 6.00pm and it will be preceded with an open top bus tour of
Keighley town centre by the team.

The open topped bus, which is being provided courtesy of Keighley Bus
Museum, will leave Cougar Park at 5.40pm.

It will then proceed via the Asda Roundabout to Keighley Station,
Cavendish Street, North Street, Worthway, Hanover Street and Cavendish
Street before arriving at the Town Hall to be greeted by the Mayor Cllr.
Margaret Ward.

Helen Carter, Keighley Cougars General Manager, said: "We're delighted
that the Town Council are going to afford the club the honour of a civic
reception.

"It was an amazing event in the club's recent history and we like to
think that besides crowning an amazing year for the Cougars that the
victory reflects well on our town as well putting a spring in the step
of the townsfolk.

"We're an ambitious club and we regard this as an important step along
the way in the development of our club and business".

They should have started it outside Odsal stadium to rub their faces in it though.

Nah, think of the rush hour traffic, they'd never get to Keighley!

Nice gesture from Town Council

This a really good and hope the folk of Keighley come out to show support.

I think it's down to the likes of us to spead the word and get the streets lined with people cheering our heroes on.

Might get a new set of pictures up in Morrisons cafe see as though they took the old ones down.

Hopefully Look North and T&A will put word out but I'm not holding my breath.

Look north and calendar showed Cougars tonight and mentioned the reception on wednesday too.

Could anybody clarify where it is starting from because on Cougars site it says Hard Ings Avenue. Did they mean Hard Ings Road (ie McDonalds end) or Royd Ings Avenue (Magnet side) ?

It is leaving from Royd Ings Avenue (the magnet entrance)
