Keighley-based angling supplies shop ‘Wet Nets’ have become the latest company to join the family of sponsors at Co-operative Championship One club Keighley Cougars.
‘Wet Nets’ were established in November 2006 and are based in the Royal Arcade Shopping Centre, Low Street.
They have become the latest business from the town to provide financial backing for the Rugby League club and Cougars General Manager Helen Carter said: “We’re really grateful to ‘Wet Nets’ for their support.
“This kind of sponsorship is part of the lifeblood at Cougar Park and we believe it represents excellent value for both parties”.
‘Wet Nets’ are one of the leading angling supplies companies in the region and they are constantly adding new suppliers to their list each month. They are now able to provide products from such leading brands as: Maver, Ace Carp Equipment, Korda, Nash, Wychwood, Shakespeare, JRC, MAP, Mainline, Van Den Eynde, Ringers and Dynamite Baits.
Heather Stell, the owner of ‘Wet Nets’ said: “My husband Andy is a keen specimen angler so he has an interest in looking after the local carp and pike anglers.”
Andy said: “I’ve watched Keighley Cougars since the 1980s and both Heather and I, together with our children, are now regulars at Cougar Park.
“We’re proud to be part of the Cougar family and there are signs that Barry Eaton is building a good young squad at the club so, hopefully, it won’t be too long before we’re attracting big crowds to the games again”.
And ‘Wet Nets’ have another Cougar connection too because they’re just about to take on their first full-time employee and it’s going to be former Cougar Academy player Jay Barnes.
Added Heather: “Jay’s a keen match fisherman and brings a nice blend of advice and experience for the both the match and pleasure anglers.”
