| I thought the lads worked hard tonight to grind that one out. York with the March Brothers are a fiesty side and need to be reffed as such, unfortuatly we had a complete nomark reffing the game and so our lads regularly had their heads ripped off in the first 20 minutes before eventually the ref gave a yellow card. Although he then took no action on the clear speak tackle and as for the pathetic late drive only getting a yellow. That late drive with the man on the floor could have resulted in a broken back and it gets a yellow. We all know what the March brothers are, when are the refs going to figure it out and protect the people who go on the pitch to play rugby. As for the ref walking off at half time with the York team laughing and joking and no doubt sorting out how he is going to tactically manage the second half. Rubbish.
As I have said before I accept refs can miss a forward pass or the ball being knocked out and instead made to look like a knock on. But 1st things 1st has to be players safety and today the ref failed miserably and only with luck nobody had their neck broken.
After the spear tackle I decided that for the first time in my life I would write to the RFL to complain about the ref, then came the incident as the ref went down the tunnel, my oh my, do I intend to write to the RFL. Does anybody know the name of tonights ref please.
Other than that I am glad that the better and fairer team one although sorry to see a few of the lads coming off and not making it back on, we really seem to be hit with injuries.
Well done guys, the drop goal was sweet especially as York missed theirs. Although thanks must go to the York fans for travelling over in numbers.

| same ref as last week against cas, from the RFU. Get the impression he's learning his trade in t'Championship while getting ready for Super Dooper League and the rewards it brings. I actually thought he did a fair job given the circumstances. To elaborate (accepted in Union):
Scrums, rucks and mauls: he is used to punches, stamps, grapple tackles, and thinks players are gentlemen to be counselled on such matters, thus Ryan McGoldrick on report then banned for two games, another on report tonight for sheer thuggery, oh, and finally loses his patience with sin bins to York players once they take the p*ss.
Dissent: gentlemen don't dispute the referee's decisions, hence Danny Jones sin binning last week not so long after the McGoldrick 'on report' last week. Thuggery is allowed pending video decisions, dissent is not...
Cue Leaguefan...asking me if I have ever refereed...
Actually, he has potential, I'm quite impressed

| Meanwhile..
Fantastic grit and determination, defended repeated sets of six, yes, poor decision making at times, but WE WON!
I can't fault the commitment and determination of our team, the only improvement needed is kicking and decision making...
March showed how to kick in open play and create problems, and was the only advantage they had between the sides. Ekis and Mitchell played well, some of our ex-York players seemed to want to prove a point in the last 10 minutes, when they didn't need to to...
BUT WE WON!!!
Because we were the best team, and considering our lack of props, that's nothing short of awesome.

| I thought it was an interesting and exiting game (because it was so close) and its good to see that we can grind out wins. We looked the better side in the first half (just) but I don't think we played to our strengths in the second - we have speed all over the park but don't always make best use of it.
Apart from an excellent kicking game I thought York were unusually uninventive.
The RFL need to do something about March, he is a poor role model for young kids watching our game, and if unchecked will eventually seriously hurt someone.

The refs have the opourtunity early to stop these guys yet regularly wait for 5 or 6 poor tackles before doing something about it and therefore you are right March is likely to seriously injure someone, helped by the refs doing nowt about it. Tonight we had a failed RU ref who liked to be one of the lads as he walked of the pitch at half time with York and as for his actions in the tunnel, trying to explain to my 5 year old on the way home was somewhat difficult.
March can be dealt with by refs doing their job and protecting players. I worry for the next side who get this ref.

| I thought last night was a fantastic display of determination.
The team suffered last night.
Players were asked to do a hell of a lot of work.
I really thought we had thrown it away, when we didn't take the kick with about 5 mins to go.
It really was a great moment when that drop went over.
As for March, well what can be said that hasn't been said.

I can't say as it will become a disciplinary matter with the RFL and ref in question, but if others saw it then feel free to report it independently. It would be unfair on the ref if I stated here exactly what happened and 20 people then reported it.

| One other thing i cant get my head around is why, after giving a penalty for use of the elbow did the lad stay on.
The ref could clearly be seen giving a sign to say use of the elbow.

| Why was the spear tackle not a red card. It is one thing as a defender to place your body such that as you come together in the tackle the player with the ball goes up in the air, but at that point you ensure his feet or back hit the deck first, not continue the move with a mid air turn and a head first drive into the ground. Crazy playing and crazy reffing.
