I think most people will agree that there have been “activities” on this forum that have been a little OTT. We all support the same team and for the life of me I can’t see why we can’t all get on even if we agree to differ. There is absolutely nothing wrong with disagreeing with an others opinion, lively debate and even taking the micky are all part of life’s rich tapestry.

I listened to a lot of discussion at Karl’s race night and after the Cas match in both the KC bar and main bar and it is clear that a good number of “moderate” people are disgruntled by behaviour on this board.

In my view this forum is like an extension of the cougar “hall of fame” bar. You can go in after the match to shout and cheer, moan and feel sorry, complain about or compliment the ref, touch judges, players, coaches, management other fans etc. You can even get to talk one to one with the aforementioned but there is no guarantee that they will agree with you and they may even choose to ignore you. There are people who will quietly sit and have a pint and not say much to anyone and those that will hustle and bustle from group to group. There are loud fans, knowledgeable fans, mischievous fans and those that don’t seem to grasp rugby and its rules at all. Then once you have discussed rugby and had a couple more pints you can set the world to right. From politics to finance, or from “a funny thing happened to x, y or z” to “does anyone know how to fix my washing machine?”

You can have a good bit of banter with the bar staff - even take the micky, but you would not want to push it too far or insult them at the risk of not being served or even ejected from the premises. You also expect them to show you the same respect and would be most disgruntled if they refused to serve you just because of your political views, your opinions, your friends, who you talked to or even whose name you mentioned.

I don’t think a rugby forum is just about the game in the same way that Keighley Cougars are not just about rugby. It’s about a community of very diverse people who happen to have one thing in common – our team.

I doubt that you would find myself, or for that matter Guess Who (and I apologise if I speak out of turn Jim) disagreeing with that.

The problems start when people try to stimulate not debate, but argument, in the negative sense.

How many times has Dodgy had the slate wiped clean on this board? Couple that with the the stuff that goes on not on here but via private messages, and it becomes a nuisance. Some of the stuff that has been said is frankly out of order. He needs to learn the line between what is acceptable on a public forum, and also respect what is a persons privacy;

i.e:

It's not acceptable to ask people to say whether they have joined the KC Club

It's not acceptable to invite conjecture as to why people don't sponsor you.

All of these things are for the individual to decide, and not for the forum to muse upon.

We also have an AUP to follow. We didn't write the AUP, it's set down for us, and it's set down for good reason. When you post on here it's on the understanding that the AUP is abided by.

Dodgy has overstepped the mark continously, and given the chance to come back. After his last breach of AUP he was banned for 2 weeks. He then came back via his daughter, breaching the AUP seriously, resulting in the site admins saying a life ban should be issued. Couple with this GW also received a PM which was completely over the mark, sent via Dodgys daughter.

The thing is, none of you get to see this stuff, or for that matter have to deal with it. I'm sure the tale you hear in the KC bar doesn't quite stretch to the details we have.

To close, this forum is there for people to debate club issues, and anything else within good reason.

As far as I am concerned the matter is closed, but I won't let the forum be ruined by people trying to sidetrack for one person, when that person has had a second chance, and third chance. Don't forget, Dodgy had a life ban before, it was GW who decided he should be allowed back on.

The only thing that is asked is people stick to the AUP.
People agree to this when they join the site.

I ask these “moderate” people to think back to the last time he was banned. The forum ticked along nicely the quality of debate was much better.

I have done nothing wrong.
I have the full backing of the admin regarding the way, i have had to moderate this site.

No matter what people have been told. I have also not broken any laws.
There is no regress in law for what i have done.

The admins have said he is ban for life so that's the end of it.

If people want to carry on posting with in the AUP then please do.

If not then post somewhere else. That is your choice.

Dodgy seems to enjoy the whole wind up thing and sometimes its funny and sometimes its just wasted pixels and bandwidth, either way it is a public forum. I had no issue with him winding about sponsorship, bloody good for him for doing a 10k run.

Dodgy to be honest just needs to learn from the 3 amigos. 2 years ago we had a disgraceful forum frequeted by bitter twisted evil mouthed posters who had fallen out of favour with the club personel. (lets not open up that wound). Some of the comments were libelous (sp) and regardless of how a post started be it a game, or marketing or players it always ended the same way. Even when we set up a special thread dedicated to the subject, every post was hijacked. Was it possible to get those people banned? no. Yet here we are two years down the line with a pleasent board and those same three people shining examples (almost

) of worthwhile posters. Dodgy take a leaf out of their book, drink some tea, chill out and get back on here.

Lets move on guys, we have a great team and club, spirits are high, we actaully stand a chance of beating York and my mum has got me an easter egg.

To be fair to the club, they seem to have taken on board everything we said, so I suppose we ARE the Keighley Cougars (all be it by stealth).

A person's private matters, and that includes giving to charity, or sponsoring certain individuals, is not a matter for a public forum, unless that person chooses it to be.

That is a matter of respect and common decency, and will remain so.

Seems like some people are obsessed with Dodgy and maybe that’s the problem, the obsession is dictating how others are treated.

If he’s broken the AUP and been treated fairly then I’m sure people won’t have a problem.

The people I spoke to in the bar were as mentioned in the original post were a group of ladies; they were not upset regards Dodgy, rather the way they were treated when mentioning any subject relating to Dodgy. I think the phrase “is the forum becoming a little boys club” (and I’ve toned that down) was said.

When people mention respect and common decency, don’t you think it’s completely disrespectful to then tell a disgruntled lady to “get back in the Kitchen” even if it’s said with a smiley face?

I did not want to drag this back up again but since Reborn mentioned it (sorry Reborn) “dubious” comments made several months ago when there was friction with the club management were allowed to stand. I wonder why?

I’m not sure why GH feels the need to say he hasn’t done anything illegal, have you forgot to renew your tax disc?

I could pick every line out of comments made and give a response but that would go on and on and just bore everyone including myself. This could become very destructive and that was definitely not the intention of the original post.

I still think that Dodgy’s post regards sponsorship was open to interpretation and some people chose that which suited their agenda.

Incidentally, is an argument defined as when someone disagrees with you and a debate defined as when you disagree with someone else?

I admire Dodgy for his fundraising efforts. As far as him posting about this on the website, I can honestly say I have no real opinion on it. Woud I want him to ask me and others why we didn't sponsor him? No. I give money to several charities as it is and I will choose the charities at my own discretion. If someone on this board has been subject to Dodgy questioning them, then I agree that is wrong.

As for Bakewell tart comments, obviously everyone has a different opinion on most things, this topic being one of them. The problem is that GW and the other moderators are of the same opinion and that of the administrators above them, as they are following the AUP. They did not
write it but still have to enforce it, otherwise these forums would be chaos.

So like it or not the stance they have taken is believed to be the right one.

So you can either get over it, agree to differ and concentrate on supporting the team. Or you can all continue this farce and ultimately a losing battle. For whats its worth I agree with GW/ AJ over these matters and beieve they have taken the right steps.

I don't believe Dodgy asked anyone why they were not sponsoring him. Someone chose to interpret it that way.

I have no problem with the AUP, the whole principle that I am standing up for is fairness. If I see something that I believe is wrong should I just ignore it? You don't ever improve anything if you carry on regardless and that includes the law.

If this thread has devolved into a farce its because of the way people have chosen to reply. That was not the original intention of the post.

I was indeed referring to the whole Dodgy situation. I feel Dodgy does his level best to start most of the 'farcical' goings on. As for the people being treated unfairly for saying the word Dodgy or having a thread on Dodgy. Dodgy opened a thread and commented on a thread(s) that broke the AUP. So for Bakewell Tart to log on and promote the same subject, surely that also cannot be right. For others to say that they have been treated unfairly, maybe they need to look at who srated off the wrong doings on this forum, not GW or AJ. Dodgy himself...

I think a mod should lock this thread it's getting tiresome, it's not what we log on to read about.

I do agree that this point has been well and truly made and that there is no need to continue it, but I would just like to say that I did not break the AUP, that was why the post that had been locked was unlocked after GW agreed that there was no need to lock it. I had only pointed out that Dodgy would be at the game to collect money, this was not a problem it did not break the AUP. I agree with Dreamer about it all. Even Dodgy would agree that the topic has been well and truly done.
