| For those interested, our winding up order was scheduled today for not before 11.30 am, and should have been dealt with by now.
So I would expect some sort of news one way or the other today.

Today the club were represented in court to contest the winding up petition that HMRC have lodged. The petition has been adjourned until the 27th January. The club have applied to put Keighley Cougars (2001) Ltd in to administration and this will be heard in court on the 18th December. Cougars General Manager Helen Carter said ‘We are still exploring every avenue available to us but we need to take precautions to safeguard the future of the club. I feel confident that the club will continue to strive for success both on and off the field.’

| This is a complete disaster for the club and destroys any credibility they have built up with the fans over the last few years.
I have been enthusiastic about the coming season, but that has now been blow away. If a fan of 30+ years, feels that way what will the floaters, who have just started coming back feel.
We are going to go into the new season with next to no chance of staying up from the offset, which means we are in exactly the same position as 2004.
You,ve got to wonder where we go from here, as it will be very difficult getting any enthusiasm from the supporters for the coming season, and even more so for a few more years in C1.
This is only a week or two after I bought my season ticket and was told of the exciting times ahead. Well I have had enough of this type of excitement , as I had it in 1997, 2001 etc, etc.

| I know, let's all move to an expansion area - then we won't lose any points, and probably won't have to gain any either, and in about three seasons we'll be in Superleague.

| Gutted, why has this been allowed to happen again?
It seems that ambition has got the better of us.
The signs seemed so positive, attendances were up despite a recession.
If the administrators come in they can release players without buying out their contract.
Looks like we're going to be 3 wins behind everyone and have a weaker squad next season.

| The reality is we will be in a stronger position than we were before.
The problem is none of the fans knew what a mess we were in before.
I don't think we should assume we will have a weaker squad,
I have heard all contracts and jobs at the club are safe.
I for one see a future as being more than just the next season,
Whilst I feel gutted, I seriously doubt the lads are going to come out and put on any less of
an effort.
I don't come to the Club to cheer on directors and managers, I come to support the 17 lads
taking hits and breaking bones each week. That is what it is about.
They put themselves out for us last season and this mess is not of their making.
I'm sure there will be other who won't be turning their backs on them just yet.

That is until an administrator is officially appointed and then they alone decide who stays and who goes.
I will always support this club and the men on the field and have done since I was about 10.
What annoys me is how everything had been made out to be going so well. How stable the club was and that we were in a position to make a good go of it this coming season, we were signing new players, were told attendances were up by a quarter and on the strength of that I got a season ticket which my parents very kindly gave me the money for as a xmas present.
To be honest I feel duped and lied to, the clubs great reputation for engaging with the fans is now in tatters and who knows what the truth is or exactly if or where we'll be playing next season.

I'll believe the bit about the contracts being safe when the season starts, and they are all still there, but I cant see it happening. Administrators will want to cut costs, sell assets as best they can, and contracted players are bound to be amongst them. As someone said, its the same mess as last time we went up, and looked what happened then. In fact it will be worse due to a points deduction as well...
Other big question is the season tickets sold by the old club, will they be recognised by the new team, assuming it happens? Because technically the money raised for those is part of the assets of the 2001 club as it was then, not any 2009 or 2010 edition? I assume if they want anyone to turn up, then they will have to, but what would the administrators say to that?
Not turning my back, but not expecting us to get out of minus points next year either! I'm sure the lads who play for us will do their best, but who they will be, and how good they will be is another matter.
Lots of heavy defeats I suspect which wont help crowd numbers, so...here we go again!

| This coming season will only be my third following the Cougars and what a ride it has been.Highs, lows, freezing my t*ts off and sweating like a pig.BUT,i feel so deflated at the moment.
Whats the future hold for OUR team? Are we just gonna bob our heads into the championship every now and again then return to league 1 ?
I will continue cheering on the lads (gets me away from the old ball and chain for bit )with all my gusto but we need a plan with a purpose,a target to aim for.
If my 6 numbers come up tonight,i would still stand in the Jewson with you lot

| A disgraceful state of affairs.
After all the times the current (?) board have declared how frugal they are to suddenly end up like this.
Something smells very badly.
It would be interesting to see up to date audited accounts.

| A further point; where do season ticket holders stand? Has their money gone into a black hole?
What about those who pay for club membership? Is that money still going into the draw and to The Sue Ryder charity?
I hope the directors have some good answers, I hold them personally responsible.

Who has mentioned the Crusaders?
Why come on here trying to score petty points?
A good few Cougar fans went to Bridgend (myself included) and had a good time with a great set of fans.
We don't need you trying to stir the mud at a time like this.

Losing my season ticket would be one thing.
I sincerely hope that Manorlands hasn't had funds withheld from it though.
That really would be the lowest of the low.

Is it correct to assume these will be valid just the same for the new season?

Mate honestly, I'm not trying to stir anything up, but your man mentioned moving into an expansion area and in three seasons you'll be in Superleague. It was this comment that annoyed me.
The mess at Keighley is nothing to do with Crusaders, it's all to do with Keighley. Just like Doncaster, Oldham, Rochdale, Widnes and before that York.
Keighley have no one to blame but their own board, so his comment just makes him look incredibly bitter.
I'm a York fan and I went through all this in 2002, and I do not envy you at all. I wish you all the luck and support in the world. It's not nice when you may lose your club, but it's pointless blaming anyone else.

What reason is there to be satirical about a totally unrelated club?

You've missed the point completely - no club was mentioned!!!
It appears that you chose to read into it what you wanted to see.
Anyway, It seems pointless two third parties debating what someone else intended their post to mean. I'm sure he'll be on later and explain.

| It was my post he was on about - I just feel that if our club was in a development area, maybe we'd be having an easier ride of it?
I wasn't having a pop at any other club, just what sometimes feels like a not-very-level playing field.
That said, I appreciate Keighley's problems are largely (?) of their own making.

No worries, although your hypothetical situation did sound very familiar...
Seriously though, I'm certain a pro club in Keighley will be competing in the Championship next year with 17 lads giving it their all each week, and I wish them all the best, as it's what your fans deserve.
Heres to York joining you in the Championship in 2011!
