I'm in the other camp on this one, Coleman defensively is awful. He has shown that twice at right back this season the penalty he should've given away against Newcastle and the one he did against Brentford. Defensively he is poor and has a lot to learn, Hibbert on the other hand is very good defensively and very rarely has a bad game it's the going forward and distribution that he lacks but at the end of the day he's a defender and that's his priority and he does it very well, wingers very rarely get the better of him, I don't subscribe to this modern day thinking of full backs who must be able to attack, Glen Johnson being a case in point. He may be able to attack but defensively he's average at best.

Spot on mate, that is what happened but I'm sure Wire_85 will find a way of arguing against it.
That's what I was thinking a lad has, sadly, lost his life and it's like he's trying to turn it into an Everton Liverpool arguement when it doesn't even come into it.

I think he's an average defender to be honest. Malouda in the cup final had a field day against him. Maybe its a lack of passion as well. Never seems to be that bothered about things, just wipes his nose on his sleeve every now and again.
He used to be a centre mid in his younger days

One of the games characters. RIP.'"
Indeed. Perhaps unfortunate that the character bit tended to overshadow his contribution to the game. Many former players have said that his coaching methods were completely revolutionary at the time. He was largely responsible for introducing what is now considered the typical week's preparation leading up to a game.

He inspires mixed feelings amongst a lot of Blues of my dad's generation. I think the summary is great coach, bad manager, good bloke.

Fook me, imagine Osman and Hibbo central midfield, infact it doesn't bare thinking about
I think we'll get plenty of passion from Hibbo on Sunday it's the type of game he relishes. I take people's point on him and I can see where you are coming from but I just don't think Coleman is ready to step up to playing RB just yet, no doubt when he gets his defensive ability sorted out he will be one hell of a FB but he's just not there yet. True, he was woeful in the final but I still maintain you'd probably be able to count on one hand the wingers who've had the better of him. My concern on Sunday is further up the pitch and out midfield, especially with Ossie in the team. We are really weak and it could be what costs us.

As for the 'friendly' derby this weekend, I think Liverpool are a cracking bet at 11/5. Might even lump on.

I'm a fan of Osman's. Although I'm not sure whether I'd put him centre mid (too weak) or right midfield (but his crossing from the by line isn't up to it). Just feel Ossie creates as many chances as his colleagues and scores more than his fair share of goals.
That said, he isn't in my strongest XI

He's far too weak and IMO not good enough now, his passing leaves a lot to be desired his tackling isn't strong and although he chips in with a few goals he has too many flaws in his game to be a regular. I'd have him as a squad player but not as a starter.

Thanks for the link. Sad stuff.
Irony is, he probably started the rot at Maine Road the second time around and yet without him the first time we'd have had nowhere to rot from.
RIP Malcolm.

He's a joke and a it would appear a little unstable IMO, he's been laughed out if court here and in the States. Give it up Tom and crawl back under that stone from which you came. He's blamed everyone but himself.

| Those "Yanks Out" banners are funny now, exactly the same noises as two/three years ago!
But as to the derby (it is on this weekend isn't it? I didn't realise Everton existed after seeing the media this week), we're buggared without Peanut, Jags and Afro. A draw would suit me seeing the potential side.

There was no need for the Liverpudlians to sing You'll Never Walk Alone, the last song at the party was Z-Cars there was no need for the Liverpool fans to do anything but that aside there could've been a fight anyway, a young losing his life is a tragedy, you're turning this into an Everton v Liverpool argument.

| So now this american, who is considerably poorer than most of the new breed of premiership owners has bought liverpool, what exactly is going to change? He doesnt have any money to spend on players or build a new stadium.
It will be like deja vu in a season or two

Maybe it will, but I feel we're more than entitled to have our hopes up a little after recent events. Although we're in a bit of a state at the moment, I still don't think you have to spend hundreds of millions to be successful. I still feel Arsenal are a better side than Citeh, but the squad values won't say that. Arsenal are an exceptionally run club, they're very sensible, very wise and they're light years ahead of some of the crap we get in England. We don't need a Maktoum, we need/want to be a well run club that will be able to compete once the 2012 financial fair play thing comes into place.
I'm unsure on our chances of keeping Torres, I feel he may jump ship instead of stay for another rebuilding process. As much as he loves it here, his career shouldn't be wasted on false dawns; he's too good to spend his career trying to carry us. He may go, but with the right manager in charge, I'll still have hope.

Right now I'd agree that Arsenal are a better side than Citeh. But if you had to choose one of those sides to take the title in the next few years, you'd have to say it'd be Citeh.
Arsenal are a settled club, with a settled manager playing the style of football he wants. Citeh are a large collection of quality players all bundled together very quickly, playing for a manager who hasn't been there long and may not be there in 3 months.

But without significant investment soon you'll be out of the CL for a few years. Without CL money you won't be able to buy in the players who will help you compete.

| Just seen the Hicks interview, comes across as a decent, honest bloke. Came out with some real "facts" as well. Rafa had £150 million spent net. Spoke about Rafa not being able to take accountability for bad buys. Explained how the stadium fell through. Fully open about everything.
