Indeed, and I have a feeling the size of the squad is part of the problem, there's too much chopping and changing going on.
To start with Conlon and Jones up front (when Thorne and Boulding were on the bench) was baffling, as was the use of substitutes and we've brought in loanees in Jones and O'Grady who are worse than what we have at the club anyway.
The only positive of any kind tonight was Rehman, who looks too classy for this level, even in an unfamiliar left back position and the sooner we get him in the middle with Lee the better. I just hope that he is a signing made by the manager.

| Shrews just cannont win away, and get tis for a stat. We have only scored one goal from open play ALL season away from home, all the other goals, all like 2 I think it might be have been penalties. Quite extrodianry when you consider how many we have been scoring at home.
Its putting too much pressure on us when we are at home. Dont really understand why this is such a major issue. We need to get a shrink in or something to sort out the players minds when we play away. Although negative tactics are not helping us now either. PS has seemingly resigned to the fact that we arent going to win away and so just looks for the draws all the time.

McCall's biggest problem is he doesn't know his best side, which is a crying shame, as the 1800 who were at Bury on Tuesday seemed to. To still be playing Matt Clarke is a tragedy, and a very unfair scenario for Mark Bower (who is an extremely competent centre-half) to have been in. I hope he prospers at Luton. If O'Brien is back tomorrow (which the T&A suggests he is) then it must be Rehman and Lee. Matt Clarke is one of the shakiest defenders I've seen play in the claret and amber.
He also doesn't seem to have a plan B. The long ball game is terrible, and not how we should be playing in the slighest. When you look at our midfield (arguably the best in the division when you consider Colbeck - McLaren - Law/Furman - Jones), its disappointing to see us completely bypass it and see Clarke and Lee punting it onto Conlon's head for 90 minutes. The last 15 minutes at Bury were far more encouraging, we got it on the floor and Colbeck looked dangerous, and Boulding was finally having his strengths being played to - the ball on the floor where he can take defenders on.
McCall's tactical decisions are shocking, who in this world would have played Law wide left, with Colbeck sat on the bench. Furthermore to have Thorne and Boulding sat there festering and to put Daley up top - bemusing to say the least.

I think todays line-up, (with a fit Colbeck in for Jones) and possibly Arnison in for Clarke with Rehman moved into the centre, is the one we shouldn't stray too far from for the rest of this season.
With some better finishing, and less inspired keeping, we could have scored a bucketload today - the improvement from Tuesday's effort was amazing.
We really need to back that up on Monday though.

I think McCall has certainly found his best central midfield pairing, Law and Furman worked prety well together, and both looked better playng alongside each other than they have done when paired with Mclaren.

| Great win at Gillingham for City today, really impressive. We now have 2 massive home games to play which could really shape the rest of the season.

| On paper that is probably the best result of the season to date.
Was Bury a wake-up call that we needed? Since then we have played pretty much our best 11 and been rewarded with two good performances and results, rather than changing the personnel worrying about the opposition (which we don't need to do in this division).
The next two games are very big now, and will tell us a lot about where we can expect to be come May.

| I know it's a results business - but I'm glad I don't have to watch Wycombe every week, they looked more like a rugby team than a football one, and it was funny to see them get rattled late on and turn nasty.
I have never had much time for Peter Taylor, after he tried to claim that the only reason we beat his Hull team a few years ago was because they had to play in their away kit at home, but if he was seriously questioning the red card to his player (he seemed to be berating the 4th official) then he obviously has no understanding of football, what a shocking challenge that was.
We played well, not exceptionally, and just about merited the win I thought, we'll be in a decent position if we can back that up on Tuesday night.

Well, to be fair to him regarding yesterday, he hasn't complained about the red card after the match, despite the fact it seemed like he was whining to the 4th official at the time - maybe someone pointed out to him that kicking an opponent in the face isn't really on.
Still a tw*t though.

| Rotherham lose 1-0 tonight against Shorpe, so are out fo the Johnstones Paint Cup at the Northern final stage. Unlucky Millers
Congrats to Luton who will face The Iron in the final!
Rotherham have 4 games in hand on some teams, and we are 20 points off the playoffs....a good run of results could see us climb further up...who knows!

| I'm satisfied with a point tonight, we were running out of steam by the end and Darlo were the much fresher - no surprise when they haven't played for 3 weeks.
7 points from Gillingham, Wycombe and Darlo, 4 clean sheets in a row (8 in the last 11) is a decent return for me, I'll put my neck on the line and say that if we keep this 11 we seem to have now settled on together then we'll go up.
