The evening paper in Glasgow has reported that we are signing Rangers midfielder [url=http://www.rangers.premiumtv.co.uk/page/Squad/Profiles/0,,5~37314,00.htmlDean Furman[/url on a six month loan - can't find too much about him though.

The reports I'm reading are very encouraging about Furman. It's an area we desperately need cover in too, as IMO Nix just doesn't cut it in McLaren's absence. Apparently he's not too far off the Rangers first team, looks like McCall's contacts could have paid off for this one.

I've had a brief report on the reserves, seems like Conlon's goals were mostly tap-ins off the back of others parried shots or inch perfect crosses

It was on the BBC Gossip page this morning that one, good signing judging by the Rangers website.

4,000 travelling support - that's more than we've got for home JPT ties in the past. And all so they can go to Elland Road for a night out.

At the end of the day it's a JPT game against a lower midtable league one team, I wouldn't usually care if we lost this sort of game 6-0 to be honest - obviously I don't want another Huddersfield-esque embarassment because it's a local derby, but I certainly want no part of this silly cup final atmosphere being built up, mainly by the teenagers on the official messageboard.

Maybe it's because I remember proper games between the clubs in the 80's (even though I was only young), but this is one game I really can't get worked up about. I will listen if it's on the radio though.

Old enough to remember the 3-3 at Elland Road courtesy of a Mervyn Day howler? One of the best atmospheres I've ever experienced at a football match that was.

Yes, I was there New Years Day wasn't it? - preferred the dodgy late penalty that got us 1-1 draw at Easter the next season though, although being spat for it at as a 10 year old was a bit of a surprise.

My mum actually banned my grandad from taking me to Elland Road after I told her of seats etc flying around on my first visit to watch City there, luckily her ignorance of football, and the fixture list, meant I never actually missed one of them.

The chav 5000 at Elland Road will be spitting feathers at this one. Even though we've apparently played well.....

We might have been right in it with a plank of wood up front rather than Conlon.

4,287 "City fans" out of a crowd of 20,138.

This means there are about 6,000 more Leeds fans there tonight than turned out for their game last week against Palace, higher division opponents in a much more prestigious trophy, but of course playing us means nothing to them



Anyone who went see any trouble? A Leeds fan on the radio after the game claimed that City "ran them" outside before kick off, and I've read that a bus was set alight too, our lot were kept in for almost half an hour after the final whistle and I've just had a text from a mate at the station saying it's not the nicest place in the world to be at the moment - exactly why I couldn't be bothered going to be fair.
