| Just having a look at tomorrows racecards and bumped into this one at Tipperary 19:10
courtesy of At The Races:
[iAidan O'Brien goes for a hat-trick in this race following the wins of Super Pistachio and Viscount Nelson in the last two renewals and BRITTANY could be the one to side with this time. He left his debut form firmly behind when making virtually all to score at Gowran last month and the manner in which he won on that occasion suggests he ready for this rise in grade. Market confidence behind stablemate Jackaroo would be an ominous sign, but Dermot Weld's Triple Eight could give the selection most to worry about.[/i
Super Pistachio? WTF.
If anyone else thought that, the that is the new name for ex-O'Brien trained Westphalia.
All of the horses RP form and results have now been renamed to Super Pistachio - which made me wonder what the hell beat Zacinto on his debut trying to work out who the hell it was, as I was trawling the internet trying to crack this puzzle, went on Sporting Life and they still had the horse as Westphalia.
Now trained in Hong Kong so assumingly they are freely allowed to change the names of horses they buy in from Europe!

They (Hunslet) are going to have to be a hell of a lot better in the second half to land these bets.

Probably because you fall into one of two catergories - you joined most of them before they were hot on identification, or you joined when you were well after the age of 18 and had a suitable card.

Perhaps a lesson not to bet on things you don't have much of an idea about. I had Workington +26 as my mate from Workington told me that they have been playing well lately and should be competitive. Just a bet for fun though, with no real confidence.

How do you know we didn't have much of an idea about it? I regularly bet on the lower leagues in RL, with plenty of success too.

How many times have you seen Workington play this season? Same goes for Hunslet.

I haven't seen Gateshead once this season, doesn't mean it isn't easy pickings backing against them.

As my own team are in the same division as Hunslet and Workington and I have seen both teams this season it would appear that you have jumped to a conclusion.
That's the whole point about gambling, it wouldn't exist if it wasn't possible for favourites to lose.
Hunslet were pretty poor tonight ... anyone who has seen them (rack up the points) this season will testify to that - but so be it, it happens.

| If there's plenty of rain around tomorrow and the ground becomes a bog at Haydock then Red Fama could be very interesting in the 8.00.
Looked a horse well on the upgrade a few years back rattling off 3 straight wins (a couple absolutely hacking up) and then a fine 2nd over course and distance..
Not sure if the horse has had problems since then as it's had 3/4 disappointing efforts, but looks back to a handy mark and Neville Bycroft has had a couple of decent winners in the last few days including old Ponte favourite Umverti rattling home off her highest ever mark by a good 7 lengths the other day, so looks like the horses are in good nick and hopefully this one should be fit and ready to re-discover it's early potential!
Sporting life's betting forecast of it being 25/1 is laughable.

Just for info... Hunslet -22.5 on Betfair had been backed down to around 1.65 pre kick off, so I suspect a lot of people jumped to the same conclusion in a big way for it to be backed down to such a low price.

| After 68 minutes last night the handicap was Workington +12 despite it being 18-14. Had a smallish bet on it and it never looked in doubt to be honest.
Paid for my disgraceful bet on Tiger anyway

| Newmarket 7.50
Chabal 11/10
Chabal could romp away with this getting the ground it wants, looked a real smart type at Sandown in the Classic trial didn't go on the ground in the Dante when 7/4 fav was then pulled from another race due to firm ground so the rain at Newmarket which is already good going should make it just right, Wigmore Hall looks the main threat but make what you want of Bells comments to the Racing Post doesnt really make you want to put your cash on it.

What has Bell had to say? Might back Chabal, SBS seems to be getting into a bit of form lately in these sort of races.

Thought she was a touch disappointing when made favourite at Doncaster but perhaps the return to 6f should see her in a better light and she won't get many better chances than this.

| Another one at a big price at Haydock that looks good if the ground is soft is the ex O'Brien horse poet, went to Meydan after being sold and flopped big time, all its best races at Coolmore were on ground yielding/soft/heavy and last year its best race was over this distance in the Group 3 Kilternan stakes winning by 4 lengths, small signs last time out that it still had something so E/W at 16/1 looks good.
