Not sure I'd class myself as a fan, certainly not in the same bracket as some of the others on here.
For me no player can be bigger than the club. Once the first player is seen to be able to do what he likes and get away with it, you're on a slippery slope.
How much would Madrid or City pay for him? 50, 60, 70 million? Would that make any real inroads into United's debt? I don't think so.

You would think so, but Fergie's not far from retirement. Which adds an element of doubt.

Crap source and not the right man anyway. Done a good job at Barca, but proved unable to control egos and, IMO at least, couldn't develop a plan B when things went wrong. Just doesn't have 'it' for me.

| I'd be very surprised if Fergie walked and Rooney stayed. Rooney's marketability hasn't taking some hefty knocks in the past few weeks and 600k a month of the wage bill could seem very appealing to David Gill et al.

Lost control of the dressing room at Barça and was seen to be too close to the players.

It is. It says it all; Everton played well and deserved the win, Liverpool are a shambles and allover the place on the field, but, I doubt the Americans will look and say 'we should have bought them', even Americans aren't that stupid.
But, anyway, just having a nosey on Twitter, to which I managed to find Patrick Barclay (The Times) reply to this Tweet:
'you and your cohorts really need to put a stop to this pro-Hodgson agenda, it is painfully transparent. We are not stupid.'
By saying:
'Oh yes you are'
Deary me, you do wonder how someone can call appointing Hodgson 'astute'.

Don't think anyone really thinks Everton would be a better buy than Liverpool.
As for Hodgson, there were plenty on here and in the pubs crowing when he was announced. Some of you however have been dead against it from day one and with every limp effort of a performance you're being proved more and more correct.

To be fair, it's just a tongue a cheek blog isn't it. Had the derby been this time next week that blog would've been completely different. He's right with a lot of what he says, we fully deserved our victory and talking of Moyes and the board and we are run within our means, very true (although we've heard it countless times before) but the Americans thinking they've bought the club is just a tongue in cheek undertone to it.

His comments after today's game where barmy. It's not an astute appointment for Liverpool, for a number of clubs it would be but not yours. I can't see him shifting anytime soon either.

Thing is, it doesn't even feel like a derby defeat because there is little for us to be bitter about. So often we'd be in games, have chances, have decisions go either way and we'd be arguing for weeks on end. Instead, it was a routine victory and a routine defeat, the bluenoses don't even need to gloat because Liverpool fans can see things so clearly, the game pretty much said it all.
Still, a pretty good read, this... liverpoolfc.wellredmag.co.uk/Liv ... -park.html

Can't help feeling the players should shoulder some blame though. Hodgson deserved everything he got? Torres needs to pull his finger out and start showing why he's regarded as one of the best forwards in the world for starters.

Maybe Torres should, but it's hardly the world's biggest secret that Torres is a player who heavily relies upon teammates and support, is it? The only times Torres has ever truly shone for us are when Gerrard has been able to get a consistent partnership with him; that partnership hasn't been there since Alonso has been gone. Torres will continue to struggle until the team forms some kind of shape and tactic that works in his favour, at the moment, we're everywhere, and so is he, which makes raising his individual form even harder, as those around him are probably playing worse.

The thing is you've got a world class keeper, Gerrard is still one of the best midfielders in the Premier League for me and Torres is one of the best forwards playing football. Apart from those three...?

We have other players who are good/decent, or capable of playing well when others are on song. Meireles is a good player, but he can't be relied upon as one of our better players yet as he has just arrived here. Glen Johnson is more than capable, but he's having his worst run of form since his pre-Pompey days, to the point where it makes you think 'is it form? Or was his time at Pompey just great form from an average player?', Agger is a class player, Skrtel is a great defender on his day, Fabio Aurelio was always reliable for us, Joe Cole is a good player, too! There are some decent players there, but it matters little when there is such a gulf in class between the better players and the coach. Until we have an squad of experienced, workman-like players, Roy'll never get us playing the way he wants.

Rooney says he wants to quit United ASAP
www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010 ... ter-united
I can't see him being the type to settle abroad, and he said he wanted to stay in Manchester, so City seems the natural destination.
He's going to end up being the biggest hate figure in Old Trafford if he signs for them, a scouse Judas playing for City!

It certainly feels like a derby win from this side of the park, mate. We have had to wait since 2006 for a league victory in a derby far too long for me.
You're right though it was very routine, it was a lot more comfortable than I expected and a lot more comfortable that it should've been. According to Woy, you were unlucky to be one down at half time, deary me, what is he on? we were by far the better team all game, no question and fully deserved out lead when we got it. I know you've been anti Woy since he joined, who would you like to see in charge? Pellegrini?
