praises- McIllorums excellent performance, how our kicking game was significantly improved, the performance of jack hughes in the centres. Im sure there are many more.

grumbles- leeds scored!

1 speed (6,7,9 were all magnificent)
2 kicking game (only 1 duff long kick all game)
3 discipline (back to what it should be)
4 subs (well chosen. letting a team playing well stay on the field for as long a possible)

grumble
1 no backs on the bench (we will prob have to replace 6 and 7 at the end of the season, are happy to blood inexperienced forwards but not green half backs)

Praise - Defence awesome, kicking game much better, Finch taking the line on, forwards dominating.

Grumble - Why couldn't we do it last week? consistency needed. Next 2 games away!
If not injured obviously it looks like Gelling and Dudson are not up to it!

Praise - All forwards stood up well. McIllorum looked the real deal, as we know he can be. Charnley looks to have gone up another level which should see him gain England honours.

Grumble - Rising to Leeds spoiling tactics when they're being given a lesson.

I was pretty impressed with Wigan last night with both ball in hand and defence.

When Wigan moved the ball wide they looked very dangerous. The runners off the ball was very very good giving the halves the options and causing Leeds problems all night. The handling was very crisp for only the second round.

The defence was also mean and well drilled.

All in all, I think it was a top class performance for what's only round two of super league.

Praise - Desire, commitment and defense. Some might question why I'm praising Wigan's commitment and desire, but anyone who saw last week's match won't. Great kicking game also, but again where was it last week?

Grumble - Support play, plus I still want to see more from the attack, hopefully that will come with time.

praise:forwards laid a very good platform which allowed time and space to kick well and for backs to run

grumbles: that much possession and territory should have yielded more points. our backs have to be able to create more opportunities especially against teams when we wont have so much forward dominance.

McIllorum's run at McGuire was immense!

Praise- Fantastic defensive display and great passing game.

Grumble- Twas bloody freezing.

Praise -
Defence was solid and a massive improvement on last week.
McIlorum was fantastic at hooker and had one of his best games for Wigan
The pack was much better, particularly Lauaki who needed to improve.
Goulding and Charnley both had very good games.
Kicking game was very good.

Grumble -
Not many, but I still think Flower looks too small to be a prop forward. He defends well and runs the ball in quick and strong but he's dominated in the tackle far too easily and wasn't very effective.

Praise - Our defence was magnificent and the pack on the whole was much improved making some good metres and dominating the Leeds forwards. They really set the foundations and the kicking game was much better as result. McIlorum in particular made some good metres and was much better in his decision making. Our right hand side was again impressive. Goulding was excellant in both attack and defence and Charnley is a very good winger and a fantastic finisher who could well get international honours this season. They have quickly developed a very good partnership and we look more threatening down the right than we have for quite a while and look more solid in defence.

Grumble - Hard to have any real grumbles but if I had to it would be that the left hand side again didnt look as sharp as it could be and Pat looked a little slow again to me.

Praise.

The forwards,especially in the first half when they really hurt the Leeds pack (and I MEAN HURT).
Goulding and Charnley seem to be developing a good understanding and can only get better.

Grumbles,(more of an obversation really).
During the second half the Wigan defence on the right was breached a couple of times,which I put down to the sliding defence. This is not getting at Goulding and Charnley by the way.
By that I mean when Micky Mack is on as hooker Finchy usually plays on the left and Tommy on the right. When Tommy goes to hooker this leaves one natuaral halfback on the field (Finch on the left) and the sliding cover does'nt allways get across to the right and sometimes we just seam short on numbers on that side.

Praise -
1. McIlorum looked like the player Wane and the coaching staff clearly think he can be. Improved 10 fold on last week but would still like to see a bit more fizz in his passing.
2. Finch taking the ball to the line makes us so much more threatening. 2 or 3 runners every time gives us plenty of variety.
3. Josh Charnley is the brightest prospect in rugby league. Could be a superstar.

Grumble -
1. The fans in S2 singing 'Champions, you're having a laugh' and then Leeds scoring less than 60 seconds later. (Daft I know, but couldn't really think of owt else, and there's nowt like tempting fate!)

Praise-

McIlroum was exceptional having his best game since the Grand Final of 2010. He physically dominated blokes twice his size and got us rolling forward.

Goulding showed that he has got the skills to be our right centre. He had a much better game then Joel Tomkins ever had in the position and suprisingly(to some) we may be better off in that position because of Joels exit.

The forward pack did it's job and dominated the Leeds pack. Whenever our pack dominates our backs will win us the game because they're very good.

Grumbles-

We need to start supporting up the middle more. When Lockers made his break this week and Hock last week there wasn't a player within 20 yards and those 2 aren't exactly Usain Bolt.

I'm still a touch concerned with our fitness in comparison to the last 2 years. We were flagging a little before Charnleys 3rd try and we needed that to physically get us going again.

after re watching it, Lockers run away from where the support was coming from.

Praise - The biggest problem last week kicking was vastly improved

Grumble - Some players need to keep focussed McLlurom, Hock, Luaki can get dragged into retaliating

I have to say I thought you were excellent yesterday. Everyone was tipping Leeds including myself but I thought it was a performance
of great intensity and some nice passing. That scissors type move on the right with those dummy runs for Charnley's try was outstanding
and I thought your defense was solid without being niggly; a criticism some leveled at Mguire.

Praise.
Attitude in attack and defence.
Good run our for some of the kids which could prove valuable come the end of the season.
Charnley confidence sky high.
Our number 9 making a point that he is good enough. Strong and tough.
Hock very dangerous. ~Gonna get better as the season goes on.

Grumble.
Kicking game better but still needs improvement.
Ref decisions? some silly errors. But consistent lol.
Leeds away support.
Still not happy with no cover at half. as knock here could seriously damage out season.

Praise:
McIIorum and Goulding showing their doubters (including me) how well they can play - esp. McIIorum darting from dummy-half and kicking.
Great finishing from Charnley.
Improved kicking game + Massive defence = Field position.
Jack Hughes playing out of position but not letting anyone down.
Team showing patience, structure (thank the half-backs for that) and composure, at least most of the time.

Grumbles:
Shame we didn't nil them
Wished O'Loughlin had run the other way when he broke in the second half
Finch's decision-making close to their line was poor a couple of times. He sometimes kicks through and it's obvious the others aren't set to chase. Plenty of time for that to improve though.
