It's been reported that big Sean Mullaney has tragically passed away in a motorbike accident at the age of 42. For those familiar with the local amatuer game Sean was for many years the mainstay of a very good St Pats pack. He was a local community bobbie who played for GMP , toured with the British Police side and captained his county. He went on to coach his sons side at his home town club of Hindley. He was everything you'd want in a prop - big, tough, mobile and hard working. On top of that he was a gent.

R.I.P big fella from all at Ashton Bears and our sincere condolensces to the family you leave behind.

Heard about this yesterday, Shaun coached my sons team at Hindley, got to know him well during the time spent watching them over the years, shocking news, great bloke, will be sadly missed. R.I.P. Shaun.

I've known Sean since secondary school ("Cardy" class of '84), and this came as a massive shock when I got the news yesterday.
A good lad was Sean. Well liked, and well respected - the epitome of the term 'Gentle Giant'. Condolences to Louise and the kids.

Hindley teams are playing at tomorrows game. Because of Sean's association with Hindley/St Pats and the amateur game in Wigan, I think a minutes silence would be appropriate.

Cant see it happening (agree it would be appropriate), would be nice if the lads could wear black armbands though.

Sean was a great lad and a true gent, a fantastic role model for the kids he coached at Hindley, a very good RL player that could of turned pro but didn't want to turn his back on the police. My thoughts go out to his family.

Hindley under 14s will observe a minutes silence before our game at Leigh east and will wear black armbands, having known sean for many years I think it's the least we could do. The junior teams playing at Wakefield pre Wigan game will be asked to do the same and hopefully they will be allowed.

A Humanist service at Aspull Village Club - 12 noon - everyone welcome.

Family and close friends will travel to Howe Bridge Crematorium then there is to be a Celebration of Sean's Life back at Aspull Village Club - again, everyone welcome.

An opportunity to give the Big Lad a Big send-off!!

So sad. I played against Sean many years ago when he was at Pats and I was propping for Woolston.
