The current Wigan team can surprise anyone on their day. But one recent pattern has been to play well one week, and then be dire for the next two or three.

I think you'll need to be badly off form to lose this one, though obviously I'm hoping for an upset.

We showed again today that if we could cut out the silly mistakes we're a decent side but we just don't seem able to. Even with some of the worst errors you could ever wish to see we still got home pretty comfortably against a good Wakefield side.

Next week we need a top draw completion rate, we have to defend tough and keep it tight for the first half hour and we need to take our chances.

If we do all that it still might not be enough but we'll at least have given them a game.

If you can tell me that I'll tell you what sort of "derby" it will be.

Today was surreal.
Wigan should have won that game by 30+ points, at times they were that good.
However at times they were like a schoolboy side playing "tick and pass"

All three top level games I have sen this weekend have been very poor quality wise.

Not one bookmaker in the country will have us down as favourites for Saturday and rightfully so.

We'll have at the very least 6 points on the coupon and in most bookies i'd guess 8-10.

If you play like today and we play like we can it will be a really good match, realistically as others have said we will be favourites, but not as strong as recently.

For what it's worth, Wigan will more than likely get f*cked over next week. Saints lost a match that they would have walked, and Wigan have had a good win this week. Given that Saints will be smarting, and also given that it's hard to back up a good win with another one the following week, I think the result has written itself already.

I hope I'm wrong, obviously.

The thing thats really got to me about all our hidings in the derby over the last few seasons is that when we were the top dogs you still always seemed to give us a good game.

Hopefully we're at least getting back to that.
