| Dobson wouldnt last a second at Wigan these days due to the fact he cant tackle, same reason he didnt make it in the NRL.

Much rather bring in a 9 than another half back. No need for him at all. Good player don't get me wrong but we are badly missing an experienced quality 9 to guide us round the park.

Ennis would have been a treat. I wonder if we will recruit a 9 for next year! We need a centre as well though and maybe a prop depending on what Coley and Fieldens plans are.

| For me the prop spot is well sewn up for next season.
Lima and Fielden will still be here then we've got Prescott and Mossop who are really rising to the challenge. After that you've got Hock to add into the mix, Crosby and Davis as well. No point spending much needed cap space there.
What I really want more than anything is for us to sign a world class player. Whilst some may disagree with my next statement I don’t think we’ve signed any world class players since Trent. Don’t get me wrong Hoffman, Lima and Finch are quality players. They are all top additions to the side but I don’t think anybody would seriously group them into the Lam, Renouf or Barrett bracket of player which is the level of player I want to see us sign next season.
For me we have to sign a top class centre and a HB/Hooker.
Looking at this website [urlhttp://www.zerotackle.com.au/rugby-league/nrl/players/off-contract-2011/[/url there are a lot of quality players off contract;
Hodges, Idris, Gidley, Reddy, Cooper & Boyd are the pick of the potential centre players imo although there are others.
There are some other big names as well Lockyer, Widdop, Hinchliffe, Hohaia, Brett Stewart, Bowen, Issac Luke all seem to be off contract.
Mouth watering.

If you want a world class player then you will have to pay as much money as we did to Trent. We can't do that and have a strong squad at the same time. I would be happy signing a player who would fit straight into the mould. We don't need a world-class player, we are a championship winning team with 3 extra class players. I would love Hodges and Luke but they would cost too much surely!
Gleeson
Coley
Deacon
Will probably not be playing next season and then there is Roberts and Pryce and maybe even Hoffman who may not be around either. I would rather sign 3 good quality players and get some young players on long term deals than splash out on one world class player and a couple of good players and not have enough left to wrap up our young players.
I will obviously take any of those listed players but only at the right price. Just not Lockyer.

| Hock returning as a prop would be ideal really. He's be the instant replacement for Coley, leaving us with plenty of options upfront. Particularly when we have to think about Davies and Crosby getting game time next year. Plus with our abundance of backrowers, hopefully not adding Hock to that category means we'll be able to keep the Hoff.
2012 Frontrowers:
Fielden
Lima
Prescott
Mossop
Hock
Davies
Crosby
2012 Backrowers:
Lockers
Joel
Hoffman
Hansen
Farrel
Tuson
Very good pack that imo.
If we need to recruit anywhere next year it's possibly in the halves and backs. But we have to be careful not to block the pathway for the like's of King, Powell, Mellor and L Tomkins. It's a fine line to tread, and one we have to get right.

| IMO we need a halfback and a next year, we are fine in the forwards:
1. Sam
2. Goulding
3.
4. Charnley
5. Richards
6. Finch
7.
8. Fielden
9. Tommy
10. Prescott (he's played his way into the number 10 shirt this season so far, pre season I wouldnt have had him in the 17 with everyone fit!)
11. HH
12. Joel
13. O'Loughlin
14. Lima
15. Hock
16. Farrell
17. McIlorum
18. Mossop
19. Tuson
20. Marsh
21. Pryce?
22. Mellor
etc

| The way the club is going over its recruitment, retention and development of players is in the list LTS has shown.
Of the 13 players listed 10 have come through our academy and youth system. Fielden, Lima and Hoffman being the other three.
Considering IL has only owned the club just over three years it shows how much can be acheived in a relatively short period of time when it is done properly.

That imo shows the pack is sorted. We've taken the loss of Coley and even potentially Hoffman without any major fuss or drama. The performances of Mossop and Prescott mean we can do that. Guys like Hock coming back again means we can replace high earners with quality players on lower wages. The talent of guys like Crosby and Davies means we've still got a very strong strength in depth also. It’s a beast of a pack imo.
In terms of the backs Deacon, Gleeson and Carmont are big name, big game players who are going to be big losses. You only have to look at the GF last year to see what a difference Gleeson and Deacon make on the big stage and Carmont has been one of the best SL centres during his time in Wigan providing a bag full of tries for who ever has played outside im whether it be Ainscough, Richards, Pryce or Charnley.
The good news however is that in Charnley we seem to have a ready made replacement for one of the centres. He’s proving his SL worth at the moment and he’s got bags of potential but best of all he’s tied down for FIVE years meaning we don’t have to argue about losing him or renewing his contract.
That leaves one centre spot and the 7 role to fill and seeing that we’ve only promoted from within we should have the kind of dosh to spend which allows you to sign a top class player and that’s what we should do.
Hodges for Wigan 2011.

| Come the end of season Carmont might be persuaded to stay.
He is in good form at the moment and is a consistent player.
It may be the case that perhaps Widnes may come in for him and offer a 2 year deal where only one maybe on offer from Wigan.
In view of Gleeson not being selected I'm not too sure that a new offer to George might be the best way.
Two new centres seems a bit of a risk unless we get an incoming player who's both experienced and top quality.

I'd like to keep Carmont but when i look at the list of centre's available and the potential cap space we have I think we’d be stupid not the test the will on someone like Hodges or Reddy for next season.
If nothing comes of it then we sign Carmont again but if we get a top name I’m sure like you said Carmont will get a good deal at someone like Widnes or Salford.
Gleeson has defiantly left and that spot should be filled from within as we’ve got candidates in Charnley and Pryce who could be top SL centres but on half Gleesons wage.
