How can you say he is wasted at fullback after last season? What makes you think he is wasted at fullback?

The fact that he creates/scores loads of trys? Makes try saving tackles against bigger men? Can see the gaps better so makes more breaks?

I've seen him do plenty im not going to go through them all, one that stands out is one on Kylie Leuluai I think it was (or one of their other fat props) against Leeds last year at Headingley. He tackles way above his weight. His only problem at Fullback is catching bombs, which can be worked on - and thats only highlighted at the moment because Richards is not playing.

I think he can play 6 or FB equally well. I just think that Roberts at FB and Sam at 6 is stronger than Sam at FB and Deacon at 6.

I think although Sam can be devastating from FB at times, he gets more of the ball at 6 where I think he can be more effective.

It was the comment that he is 'wasted' at fullback is one I don't get. As you admit to, the lad is absolutely devastating at fullback. The way he chimes into the line from fullback can be almost unstoppable for some teams.

Agreed. But tbf most teams couldn't stop him at 6 either.

If you watch the opposition highlights from this season so far you'll quite often see him get overpowered by the try scorer, this along with his inability to take bombs is why I'd rather see him at stand off, where he has more attacking responsibilities and less defensive.

And is easier to direct forwards at him. At fullback, he can see the whole of the attacking line, choosing where to attack the gaps. Worked for Lockyer.

Lockyer being a better defender is a damning indictment, if there ever was one.

Perhaps I'm just a bit old school but I can't comprehend the idea of having a full back who isn't a great defender and solid under the high ball. That should be the key quality of a full back before you even look at attacking abilities IMO.

I share the exact same sentiment. Fullback is the last line of defence.
