.....Errrm Brian, we are sat at the 4rse end of the table, most of those below us have a game in hand, we couldn't win a game of pass the parcel (because someone would bloody drop it), we're just about to lose our best second rower because he is dense, and I have to say as a fan who sits in the south stand watching the e that the team you coach is churning out week in week out it's been a far from ing fabulous season so far!

Why should the next 10 games be anything different?

Let's just say that a few people on here need to get a 'new source' within the club..Not frigging happy I tell ya, what a wind up!

It was made up anyway.

The only thing it does show, is that Lenegan will not sack Noble under any circumstance.

He might not give him another contract, but sacking is out of the question.

Excecpt of source there would not be any embarrassment and there would be no such far fetched interview. If It would go soething like this:

IL: Wigan RL and Brian Noble have decided to part ways at the end of this season. Brian will have fulfilled his contract and we wish him best of luck. We will appoint Shaun Wane Caretaker coach if needs be until we make a permanent appointment as we don't want to rush into anything and do want to make sure we have the right man for the job. A number of candidates are under consideration and when we have appointed the successful candidate an announcement will be made.

And that would be that. Quite straightforward and covers all the bases but just for fun lets suppose we had a really dim witted interviewer who went on to ask your questions:

Journo: Okay, Mr. Chairman. So who will be the next coach of Wigan RL?

IL: As I have just told you we have a number of candidates under consideration and the successful candidate will be announced in due course.

Journo: But you have someone lined up?

IL: Are you deaf? A number of candidates are under consideration and when we have appointed the successful candidate an announcement will be made.

Journo: So bascially you've sacked the coach without having anyone to replace him?

IL: You really are deaf. Or thick? For a start he hasn't been sacked, he will see his contract out and as I have just told you we have a number of candidates under consideration and the successful candidate will be announced in due course. If needs be Shaun Wane will take over as caretaker until we get the right man for job.

Journo: At the same time announcing that Wigan RL has no coach for the 2010 season?

IL: <sigh> As I said Shaun Wane would be caretaker coach until we make appoint a permanent appointment.

Journo: But at this moment in time you don't have?

IL: If Shaun Wane evaporates in a puff of smoke you might have a point (IL mutters to Mick Hogan - where did you find this idiot?)

Journo: Which looks a tad unprofessional?

IL: I guess you failing to understand plain English is a tad unprofessional for a journalist.

Journo: In the light of that, don't you think it was a bit early to make any kind of announcement?

IL: In the light of what? You being thick?

At this point I'd like to state that I had no part in it and if it is a rumour, I was sucked in to.

Saying this I had a text from a pal of mine, who doesn't use this forum, Saying that a first team player had told him Nobby had been sacked. If it is a joke, then it appears it's coming from the club and not from people on here.

The players have probably had a bet about how quickly they could get a rumour on here. And it took about 3 minutes for someone to post.

Maybe it was lost in translation, Noble may have said his contract was not being renewed and as word spread it became sacked.

Either way my week took a turn for the worse when i saw no confirmation of this today, i can just about live with him till the end of the season...just about, but any more than that i will be totally gutted.

How about we try and get Gus Gould out of retirement? The man commands respect and I'm sure he could give our club the kick up the backside it needs! Not sure he'll want to though...

Gus Gould has a great history over in Aus but he has an even bigger history of despising all things UK RL, absolutley hates everything and doesn't rate our game at all.

Imo Nobby has done nothing but put effort into his job with Wigan and the way he has been treated by IL is nothing short of disgusting.

You can argue with his appointment, argue with his record for Wigan but you cannot argue that he does his best for the club.


I am getting less and less impressed with IL the more I see his actions.

im sorry, but doing your best isnt good enough. and never has been.

im sure eric hughes and ian millward were "doing their best", but they both deserved the boot when they got it.

Errrrrr.....So did Frank Endacott, who had a FAR better record, was VERY well respected by his players (read Radders Book) and yet he was was sacked, despite Wigan losing nowhere near the number of games we have under Noble.........Now that was nothing short of disgusting...!

I think you're giving it far too much credit, it sums up the credibility of the all too common 'knowing virtual nose tapping' that goes on when stuff like this comes up. But hey 30 odd pages of hysteria, God only knows what would happen if Hock's 2nd test came back negative!
