The mode average is the reoccurring average that tells a truer picture...and Wire are ahead of Wigan this season for the first time in decades. Probably 1980.
A mean and median average will always get offset by the Saints and Wire derbies vs Wigan and never show the picture that the TV screen does against other teams.

| Wire are doing good things and should be applauded. They are trying different ideas, building games up as individual events, engaging with the fans, players taking training sessions with kids in local parks... the kind of things that Wigan made their trademark when they cared.
And Wire may be only seeing modest gains at the minute but they are laying a foundation for future growth. If you do nothing, you will go backwards and that’s what’s happening at the DW. I’m not too upset about what’s happening on the field, that can be turned around in a year or two. Off the field though is deeply worrying. Mr Lenagan please wake up!

I completely agree. Off the field at Wigan is far more concerning at the moment.

its what you have to work with as you cant have it both ways, Saints will have been hit by playing wigan on Thursday instead of Friday like we did last year. Weve had Catalans and London at home this year you havent with 0 away support. So in effect Wire arent doing better than Wigan. Bear in mind Wire get saints also and Wigan so the attendances get the same boost.

Yes I think you might have missed...
I specifically said the mode average. It's the regular most common and that is coming in 10-11k. Wire hitting 11+ on most games.
The most common average that people default too of collective median and mean, we'd probably never match.
Anyway I'm not measuring thr penis, I'm highlighting the defective promotional work...Wigan can no longer rely on success as the machine, because there simply aren't enough competitions and Wigan aren't winning then as regular as they used too.

| I live in Auckland and go to all the NZ Warriors home games. You know what keeps be coming back despite the Warriors awful form?
It costs $15 for a ticket (7 Quid). If you're a Vodafone customer you get 2 for 1 on tickets, so thats 3 pound fifty.
With that I get free train travel to and from the stadium.
The other week your Warriors ticket also gave you entry to watch the Blues Super Rugby game at Eden Park.
So thats 3 pound fifty for 2 games of rugby, 4 train rides and a live spectacle of some of the worlds best athletes.
Take note Wigan.

| Prices have risen too quickly for sure. I was talking to Saints fans on GF and Wigan wanted £29 off them to sit in the West Stand due to the North selling out. Sorry but £29 is not acceptable for the ordinary fan.
Add to this the season ticket farce and the renewal date getting earlier. I paid for mine on 10th August last year, 6 months before the season kicked off! May have to give it a second thought this year...

| FWIW. Just picked a random club (Canberra) and random game (v Panthers on 18th May). You can buy tickets for $20 Aus. No contest imo.

| Crowd size isn't really so much of an issue in the NRL, though, with the fat fees they get from their TV deals. JT regularly played for the Cowboys in Townsville in front of 10k crowds. How many would turn up to watch him at the DW? A lot more than that!

Fair point but gotta remember every single game here is televised, I wonder what the SL attendances would be if that was the case.
However, as doom and gloom as it seems I have to say one thing SL has and always will have over NRL is game day atmospheres. If there's one thing I miss about home it's hearing 'We arrrrre the boyysss...' ring around the stadium on away days. SL has the fans, its up to the boys upstairs to pull the strings and get them to the games!

Watching the dire performances against Cas and broncos I was feeling the same. Stumping up before we have any idea of when the games will be played, i have moved back to working locally so not that much of an hindrance, but the Thursday games are a killer for the early start on Fridays. There is also a chance that home games get played somewhere else.

Not at all.
I simply pointing out that there is a huge visible reduction on home fans at the JJB and season ticket sales refract the image seen on TV. The median average accounts also for end of season attendances.that simply wasn't there.
As Saints, Wire have had better attendance averages in a season but I'm not measuring penis size here....I'm point is that Wire haven't in decades had a better average across all 3 types. Wigan souldnt brush it under the table and hide behind a one off Wigan Saints derby to say the average is 16k...when almost all season the gates are 60% of that.

both clubs have always used it, I suspect you have in the past with saints and wigan bringing plenty to your place, our season ticket sales are still probably only behind Leeds but arent getting the walk on fan or to be fair any away support except from you or saints

I’m fairly sure the RFL set ticket prices for Challenge Cup games? Either way I agree. They need to regenerate interest in the competition and get people out of their armchair and out to the games. Lower ticket pricing would go some way to achieving it but they’d have to generate better sponsorships to bring in the finance.

| A Wire vs Wigan Cup tie shouldn’t need £10 tickets in all honestly and if Wire can’t muster a crowd (and we don’t take a big following) with most people paying less then £20 the cup has issues bigger then I realised.
