| Who else could they pick?
Queensland are too good at the moment. Folau, Inglis, Slater, Lockyer, Thurston, Smith.
Soon, Lockyer will be out of origin, so that will even things up, also folau will be as he's going to AFL.

| I know the Maroons backs are superb, but I thought their frontrow today have been immense, David Shillington in particular.
I suppose when your running onto balls from Cam Smith that are just timed to perfection it will make you look good.

Isn't it good to hear Gus Gould sulking like a child though.'"
How can you say no passion? The passion was clear as day, we're just hopeless at rugby league.
And you're blaming Bellamy for the lack of even a single NSW half that's the standard of the top 5 QLD halves? Bellamy is not with out fault, and this is all but officially his last Origin series ever, but how our halves perform is hardly his fault. Nobody is currently good enough.
Gus should shut up and get back into the coaches box.
EDIT: And I can't believe any of you guys wanted a send-off in that match. This is Origin. Without that boiled over passion, it's just a regular game.

We're hardly desperate for a red card, that kind of passion is why we love SOO.
But O'Donnell in particular should have been dealt with, not just put on report. The tackle was dangerous, and you just can't headbutt an opponent!
The referee(s) bottled it IMO because they didn't want to give a red card in an Origin game and run the risk of ruining it.

| Nobody was injured. If O'Donnell goes off there, then others have to go off also, namely Thaiday for playing the biggest role in the brawl continuing for the next few mins. That would have spoilt everything.

Well if Thaiday did something to warrant card then he should have got one. I understand what you're saying, but we can't allow people to do what they want on the pitch without reprisal for fear of the excitement of the game being lessened. If you commit an offence that deserves a card, you should get it no matter if it's a normal league game, Origin game or Test Match.

| Please don't start going on about international rugby league unless you went to the game at Leigh or your interest in rugby extends beyond your club colours. The hypocrisy would be too much to take.

| I went last night. Good fun if a bit one-sided. NSW's defence out wide was as clueless as England's generally is. Standing back and watching playmakers of the calibre of Lockyer/Thurston set up plays for some of the best runners the game has ever seen is a recipe for disaster.
I seriously haven't seen en masse bad defending throughout an Origin game before.
NSW do have options. They need to get Idris and Jennings into the centres. Both carry far more threat than the current batch. They also need to pick a winger on the right. And Barrett has to go. He didn't play badly but he's retiring at the end of this year and there's really no point picking him again. I'd go for Campese myself. I'd also bring in Farah for Ennis, who's been really disappointing.
Anyway, NSW need to start blooding some of these younger guys and give them a clear mandate that they'll stay in the team for next year regardless of the result. Whilst the racism row undoubtedly didn't help, I think that NSW's team spirit gets eroded by constantly changing players between games. I'm advocating changes but picking younger players who the selectors need to stick by barring injury.

You want to be careful. With logic like that they'll use you to replace the blazer brigade dinosaurs at the NSWRL
The Maroons have been building more stable partnerships across the park for years.
Plus the entire organisation doesn't get continually 2nd guessed & criticized by "I have all the answers" media.

It was the "sore" part that lost me. I know what irony is, thanks, just as I know what supercilious is.

| O'Donnel wasn't charged for his head butt but was charged for a 'grade 2' spear tackle.
Could get between 3 and 4 games dependent upon his plea. One VERY lucky boy imo.

| the spear was bad, makes you laugh when you compare the leeds fans wanting coley sent off for his tackle in the CC when you look at that. Coleys was a dangerous throw, that was a spear. I remember jumping out of my chair shouting " oh " how the lad didn't break his neck ill never know. You gotta love origin !!!
