Why on earth has this tackle got it's own topic? Sykes went in for the tackle, hit the chest, went high. Penalty end of. Sam Tomkins is allowed to get tackled. After seeing a few tries where has has just run round the entire team this season, Sykes obviously decided to try nail him fairly but ended up going high. End of. Penalty sufficient.

O'loughlin went high about 3 or 4 times in that match and went unpunsihed, there isn't an article on it.



Sorry you had that experience but please don't tar us all with the same brush. Every team has idiots. I remember when you came to Wigan and a group of 20 came in twhere all the Bradford fans were to cause trouble. Doesn't mean your all like that.

I said the same last night. I remember when Wigan Vs Bradford was a massive game, and they used to fill that away end! Same with Leeds, but the past couple of seasons both teams have barely brought any fans.

You might find Wigan and Leeds sell their tickets rather than give then away ..... I seem to remember your support was historically so poor that they didn't just give free tickets out in bucket loads but they also used to have crowd chants played over the speak system. Mind you your ground is expensive considering its a rubbish tip

If anything that tackle sparked the Warriors into life. They were incensed, which resulted in the absolute hammering they then proceeded to hand out to the Bulls.

It was pretty clear after it though that we were determined to give the Bulls a kicking. I think Sam was instrumental for half the tries scored after that incident. Pretty amusing from where I was sat.

Not unrelated to this, there was a funny incident over on TotalRL, when some complete tw)t opened his live match commentary half an hour into the game with: "Is Sam Tomkins playing tonight?"

No they gave away free tickets to school kids (you know the future of the game) but they could only be used if the acompanied by a paying adult! A good financial policy if you ask me becouse those kids also bought team shirts and merchandise! Something im sure again Wigin have done

It is expensive but we just about pay for its running costs to allow us to allways forefill a super league fixture and not have to wory about our lanlords throwing us out so the main club can play there games!

Think a few of you may be being a bit harsh on Sykes and the Bradford fans.

I didn't cheer, at full speed I thought he'd be in the bin but slowed down it wasn't that bad, but definitely at least a penalty.

Could I please have an honest answer, if it was on one of your big fellas like Lima or Lockers would there be as much slating? I think because he's your star player there's more people jumping to the defence of Sam (rightly so, every team in the world would love him in their side) but I haven't seen a malicious side to Sykes' game before so it would surprise me if it started now.

You may be right about Sykes, but high shots on Sam Tomkins are becoming quite the norm in Super League these days, and Wigan fans are understandably getting a bit fed up with it.

The idea of someone putting a high shot on Lima or Lockers is frankly laughable - given that, unlike Sam, those two would turn around and deck the perpetrator, it tends not to happen.

Indeed. Sykes was lucky Joel wasn't on the pitch. So are we to be honest 'cos he'd probably have got himself banned for the final.

Said the same to my lad at the time . Think Joel would have got himself in big trouble had he been on the park at the time .

Seriously? It talks about the state of the game. When one of the bigger clubs in SL brings approximately 20 fans on a Friday night you know the game is in trouble.

Well look at it from a players point of view, must be very demoralising to see such a poor turn out away from home. Some may think if the fans can't be d then why should we bust a gut.

Or you could look at it we travelled in huge numbers to Warrington to see about the 5th "can't be ar$3d" performance of the season followed by arguably an even worse performance against HKR in our most important game of the season. Wigan were red hot, we were woeful, it was on SKY. it is understandable it was a poor turnout. Still disappointing but understandable. Our away support as been very good this year.

One has to admire the loyal away fans who did turn up. In difficult economic times, it is perhaps not surprising when struggling clubs have so few away fans travelling on a Friday night - especially if they know they are likely to be thrashed.

I think that a game being televised can also sway supporters who may have otherwise travelled to stay at home or go to the local pub and watch the game. The vast majority would still go to all the home games as they are season ticket holders and thus have no major additional financial outlay.
