What. Your family member? He's named in the 19 for Friday and has trained today with Warrington. In my opinion, should he be due to leave then Tony Smith wouldn't have him near the first team squad. If you want proof of this remember what happened to Gleeson? He was shipped out and told not to come back unless he didn't found a club in 2 weeks.

I'd worry about Lauaki's mobility if he did but I'd be more happy with Flower in the back row then front row so I'd expect that to be the case.
Looking forward to seeing Hughes and Faz on Friday. Both are exceptional young players and it's a good chance to take their games on a level.

Your 'family member' has failed badly. Wood is going nowhere according to Smith.

Not sure about this - we only have 1 poster on here saying there was a fall out and even if there was we do not know what it was over could have been something wrong on either side, if at all. Some on here are far too quick to seize on rumours to attack Wane (not aimed at you by the way) - regardless of truth.
I heard that Fielden left purely because he wanted a 2 year deal on good money and Wigan did not want to sign up to such a deal for a forward who had played a handful of games in 2 years - which seems more likely. Time will tell if letting him go was right or not - depends on how many games he can play, if he suffers another long term injury then it may well prove to be the right option.
A Pongia type forward would be ideal but I do not see anyone in SL remotely close to that type and available sadly, and whilst were are looking for gold perhaps a Sam Panapa would be a great addition as well!

Paul Wood offers very little in relation to the qualities we require.

| Ben Cross looked shot for Leeds, did ok for us after coming in with no expectation at all on him and has been ok at Widnes. He's an average player IMO and I wouldn't have him in the team ahead of Mossop, Prescott, Taylor or Dudson regardless of his added experience. I certainly wouldn't have him above Paul Wood who would bring experience to this side but also a real passion to play for his home town team.
I'm not sure I watched the same player at Wigan as some other fans. He was solid but he's certainly been no miss for us and he'd add very little at this time.

Stop posting common sense please.
It as if any decision the club makes since Hock statement came they can do no right in the eyes of some on here and on wiganwarriorsfans. Its like there are mysterious forces operating that will take anything the club do and try to have a pop at it. You know the type we win tomorrow then they will post its early in the season and winning now is not that important. If we lose then it will be important and that IL needs to fire Wane and put Hock in charge asap.
Have heard loads of nonsense lately on here but to say that Ben Cross would improve us compared to what we have or even Wood is laughable. Ask a wire fan who would they take Wood or Cross and they will nail you to a cross for been daft.
We have 4 decent props and Wood would bolster us but Cross would not. As for Fielden the person who posted that would have been on here posting that we should not have kept him as he could get injured again etc. Truth is we will never know with Fielden but he had 18 months almost for nothing from us we did the right thing. OOOH and here is the best he could have had pay as you play deal. Now Giants offer him a decent contract or stay with us or maybe he stays fit he gets the same. Now if you think that a pay as you play deal is fair i take it you go to work and if your ill you will never get anything.
As for Kelvin Skerrit now if we invented a time machine and IL and Wane said he was playing on Friday then the same people who just have a pop on the club or Wane would start ohh no he is a penalty machine etc.. First time in a while that we are seeing people just having a go at the club for what ever reason they can.

| Wood is a poor Andy Coley. Lets not make a solid prop something he is not. He is 31 never shown a leadership character in his life and in fact looks like a media show pony, just like we are getting rid of in Hock.
We have no Prop that intimidates. We have lads that have potential, Wood doesn't.

I am not disagreeing with you about him been a poor Andy Coley but again he is better than most props in SL and better than Cross. If a professional player can get intimidated then i say we get the following pack
Lennox Lewis, Mike Tyson, Vitali Klitschko
Wladimir Klitschko, Nikolai Valuev
Brock Lesnar
Think thats brown trouser time for any pack and full of intimidation. Our problem is not intimidation its inexperience in the pack in general. Which might be an issue this season but not going forward.

| Packs get bullied fact.
We have a young set of forwards. Wood on my opinion is no better than what we have.
He is a solid Prop with a work ethic. We have those already. We need a leader and an intimidator.
We do not have one, Wood is not a hard man nor a leader.

I wouldn't let recent events cloud your judgement on Wood in terms of him being a Hock style pain in the backside. He seems to have been the model pro for Wire for over ten years now and rarely if ever has a poor game. He won't win you matches on his own but he certainly won't lose them and you know what you get from him. It's all probably a pointless debate anyway as I don't see him coming here.

I think in that case there are two or three individuals who have a real, hardcore agenda to cause problems for the club. Not sure why, possibly it's something personal. But most of the rest of them hang on their every word as if they are prophets. One reason why I rarely visit that website these days.
There are a couple on here who clearly dislike the current Wigan administration as well, but most posters are thankfully skeptical about their knowledge and their motivation.

It really started towards the end of last season and got worse after the Hock statement by the club so we can guess what the connection is.

It's happened with other players as well, in some cases players who were nowhere near as useful to Wigan as Hock.
These guys feel honoured to be taken into a player's confidence and quickly become their online spokesmen.

| I think the wisest thing is to just take the club announcements at face value, if you want to be sceptical, that's your right. Social media has made a massive difference to so many areas of life, and in nowhere more than in the lives of even minor "Public" figures like Rugby league players. I'm sure many of the older posters here, like me, will recall times when you got to know so little about sportsmen. Its changed so much. If it's for the better, who can say.
