I have just trawled my way through all of this thread hoping to be enlightened as to the semi final venue.

My feelings are that the HJ is too small (13.5K I believe) and it would easily sell out which is a bit of a problem for me, as not a season ticket holder it may be hard to get tickets.

However if you move the game to Huddersfield I would be surprised if you got more than 13.5k turning up. You would have a showpiece game between 2 of rugby's great clubs played in front of a half empty stadium, with little or no atmosphere and a terrible advert for the sport broadcast live on the Bbc. It would kind of be like Millennium magic but probably a bit better !

If it is a choice between these 2 venues I would say it has got to be the HJ. Full house great atmosphere. Fans can get public transport to and from the game quite easily and make a right good day of it.

Cant see past it being at the HJ. Im all for it, lets get it packed out, it will be electric. All this "we have 10k season ticket holders" is correct, but lets not forget, there was still tickets left for Warrington with 3 days to go after being on sale for over a month and we only had a allocation of 3,100. Get it at Warrington and pack the place out.

gerr'umonside, i wasn't saying making the sport accessible to the regular travelling fans. We're having a run of success, which means that all the glory hunter fans will be coming out of the woodwork and interested in buying tickets. They aint gonna travel to Huddersfield, though may travel to HJ, LSV or even Stobart.

I have personal reasons why I would never step foot inside huddersfield again, so if it's played there, it's a no go for me (and no, there's no restraining order involved)

On the Saints board, somebody "in the know" says it definately at Huddersfield, which is, an aboulute joke.

You can all forget a premiership football stadium, along the lines on Anfield, Goodison, Etihad, not a chance a week before the premiership season. Anyway, were not playing it at Anfield, not wrecking OUT PITCH the week before Sunderland at home!!!

I've also heard this - it makes sense as Hudds Town are playing on the Saturday

Get it at Wire and pack the place out. Hudds would be awful, reserved seating, half empty, terrible advert forthe game. The HJ would be bouncing.

Terracing always produces a better atmosphere.

Its not big enough - people come out of the woodwork for games like this and the RFL know it

The atmosphere at Huddersfield away this season was awesome so i doubt that will be a problem. Huddersfield also isnt as far as some of the people on here are making out! Some make is sound like the north pole!

Bet they wont moan Wembley is too far if we manage to get there though!

Doubt if you'll be playing at Hudds, I reckon that's where we are bound. Wire ground would be the sensible choice.

it wont be played at the reebok because boton are playing a pre season friendly on sunday 7th. so that counts there out.

It took us 6 weeks to sell 3,000 for Wire, Wigan fans only have themselves to blame if we get 6,500 for the HJ and people miss out, also, you dont seriously think Saints will sell more than 6k wherever it is at do you?

We must have taken 8k against catalans in 2007 though.

The fact it is Wigan v Saints in a semi means this will sell quicker than any of the semi-finals against wire or the 1/4 final.

I would have it at Bolton and fill the bottom tier and the top tier opposite the camara before the rest of it is opened.

Hope you didn't spill any - I just thought it was about equal distance for both sets of fans to travel and there seems to be the same argument every cc semi final when a supposedly too small venue is chosen but not sure that there has ever been a sell out for any of them - no doubt I will be corrected in record time if I am wrong

Not really - a sell out at the HJ will look a lot better than a half-empty Galpharm.

Don't get me wrong, I'd go wherever it was played (only missed the game in France so far), but the "casual" fan (from both teams) is a lot more likely to go to Warrington than Huddersfield.

Take that as a criticism of casual fans if you like, but it's still a fact of life.
