The fans want to have a word with themselves if so. First CC semi against the enemy in 20 years, should be a lot more than 12k there.

Its unbelieveable people complain about this. Soccer took a manchester semi final to Wembley recently which, although its relatively far away, 3 hours in a car is nothing to follow your team to a semi final.
Id be happy if it was played at the stoop tbh as its not really all that far to go. If it was played in Callais or Northen france id go, so a 45 minute car journey or hour and a bit coach journey isnt going to put me off hopefully seeing the boys secure a long awaited 13 year return to Wembley!!
If its in Huddersfield then im happier than it being at Wire as at least fans who want to go wont be locked out and it gives RL a better image than playing it in a tin pot lego land - Also Saints Wigan at Wire is just asking for a few hundred Wire C0ckends turning up causing trouble....at least we can go to Huds knowin it will be a top game and day, with no trouble and just some good banter!

A soccer friendley at Wembley should have no impact on the crowd. The only people who would watch a soccer friendly over the rugby semi final would only be the part time pub briggade anyway who are city or utd fans. Instead of watching us in the pub sunday afternoon, they'll watch the soccer, resulting in no change to the gate and just a few more mindless soccer morons watching wendyball in the pub over TGG!

We'll take about 7k and they'll take about 5k. Sad but can't see it being much higher.

Ill be in the pub in huddersfield for 11am - Us drinkers avoid traffic!
Even if you turn up for K/O, you shouldn't get stuck in traffic if you have a map. Theres about 10 different routes into Huddersfield so if ones busy just use another one! Never took me more than an hour to Huddersfield including the times Ive gone for GB v NZ/ Aus games where its been a sell out.
Even if you do get stuck in traffic, and it takes you more than 3 hours, while a pain in the ar5e its a small price to pay to turn up for your clubs biggest game of the season thus far! Id walk if it was a toss up between going and not going- If a trip to huddersfield puts you off your not really a supporter IMO.

| Pretty irritating to be expected to go all the way to Huddersfield for this game if the rumours are true.
There are a number of perfectly suitable local venues that other people have suggested. It shouldn't surprise me after all the years of being dragged over to Yorkshire when drawn in semi finals against Leeds, but still disappointed and surprised.

You just used "logical" and "RFL" in the same sentence.

All this time I've been wondering why rugby league isn't our national sport, and I now realise it's all my fault!
Listen mate I do my fair share of travelling around the country watching my team but I don't see the point of driving past about 4 suitable venues to once again indulge the RFL's whim of having their showpiece events in Yorkshire.
I said the same thing when Everton made the FA Cup Semi Final against Manchester United. It's stupid. I attended that game. I'll attend this one. But it's still stupid.
Hope you can forgive the monumental damage I'm doing to the game by expressing this opinion

| i understand what you're saying gerr'emonside, but the RFL have a duty to the sport to make it accessible. The sports council demand that, and they're doing it with the "pay to play" game. But if they make a decision to play a game between Wigan & St Helens 40+ miles away from the towns, it's not making it accessible.
Regardless of distance, 46miles is 92miles return journey, which is a lot of petrol and a huge cost on top of what we know will be stupidly priced tickets.... We're in harsh financial times, and ultimately people have families to feed.

Exactly. Most of us (and most Saints posters) will go, but we're not representative of the average fan.
Driving is all very well, but I normally go by train (so I can drink!), and it's 10 minutes v 1.5 hours (+ at least one change).
If there was no option, fair enough, but the HJ is perfectly feasible.

If your going then fair play....just a bit much to moan about travelling 40 miles down a motorway that, even with the side roads added on, will take no longer than 45 minutes! And I didn’t mean by not attending damages the sport, its the small town/person mentality that 40 miles is the end of the world....like people from Wigan who talk like Leigh and Bolton are a long way away. Parochialism at its very finest.
If Wigan played Huddersfield in Soccer theyd probably call it a local derby yet for us people talk like we're playing a game in France.
The RFLs wim of having all their showpiece events in Yorkshire is possibly because presently, there is only one ground this side of the mountainous region known as the Pennines (as some would have you believe), which is Wigan, and we cant play there because we're in it!
... Id love to know the 3 suitable venues you will drive past on your way to Huddersfield - Guarantee they're all tin pots far to small to host a game of this size?
